Who we are:

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Saw Operator Lead.  The Saw Operator Lead assists the department supervisor in directing the day-to-day work activities of a department or work group to help meet the schedules and goals of the panel Saw areas, may also Sets up and operates saw to cut panels and liners.

Reporting to the Shipping Manager, they will perform, but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in training current and new operators in safety and daily functions
  • Coordinates work load  and priorities on a daily basis to meet company objectives
  • Reviews GPS and production order prior to cutting and makes set up accordingly.
  • Pre-inspects products for quality imperfections.
  • Checks dimensions using measuring tape and micrometers.
  • Trims product according to GPS & production order.
  • Counts and records product through-put by part number, and update ERP system with same.
  • Sets material on the proper skids after cutting and transfers material to QC.
  • Cleans up work area daily and “Clean-As-You-Go”.
  • Must be able to operate both manual and computer controlled panel saws and related bar code equipment as needed.
  • Must be available to work any shift, over-time and weekends
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Sufficient English Skills – must be able to speak, read, write and understand all company documents
  • 5 + years of related material cutting/sawing experience and/or training.
  • Forklift Certification, with a valid California Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
  • Must have an acceptable Audiometry test.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
