Job Description Summary
The Equipment Student Coordinator - Football will assist in all the safety and on-field equipment for the sport of football at the University of La Verne. This includes setting up field equipment for practices and games, distributing and maintaining practice and game uniforms, maintaining and organizing field equipment, correcting safety equipment malfunctions, properly fitting helmets, shoulder pads, and uniforms. The coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the coaching staff's organization, preparation, and giving our student-athletes a competitive advantage.
Under the supervision of the Head Football Coach and the assistant coach in charge of equipment, The Equipment Student Coordinator - Football inventories, inspects, cleans, sanitizes, and organizes all uniforms, field equipment, helmets and shoulder pads. The coordinator also assists with broader game day operations as needed.
Specific Duties
  • Equipment Distribution & Collection - Issue, and collect football equipment including practice gear, and uniforms. Ensure all athletes are properly equipped. 30%

  • Practice & Game Preparation - Set up and break down equipment for all practices and games. Prepare locker room and field equipment in advance of team activities. 25%

  • Equipment Management - Assist in the insepction, cleaning, and maintaining of all equipment. Identify damaged or unsafe gear and report to supervisor. Assist with repairs and reconditioning as needed. 20%

  • Inventory Management - Maintain accurate inventory records. Track issuance and return of equipment. Assist with ordering and restocking supplies.15%

  • Laundry Operations - Assist with washing, drying, and organizing practice and game uniforms. Ensure timely turnaround for daily use. 5%

  • Other Duties as Assigned - Assist with additional team operations, travel preparation, or special projects as directed by coaching staff or Athletics department. 5%

Minimum Qualifications
Education / Degrees Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED (enrolled ULV student)

Required Minimum Experience:
  • Basic knowledge of football (rules, positions, and equipment)
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment (minimum 25-50 lbs.)
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
  • Availability for all scheduled practices and games

Required Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
  • Basic understanding of football equipment and fitting procedures
  • Organizational skills to manage inventory and equipment distribution
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with coaches and players

Preferred Qualifications
Desired Knowledge and Skills:
  • Prior experience in equipment management or athletics support roles
  • Experience working in a team or athletic environment
  • Knowledge of equipment safety and maintenance procedures

Benefits Summary
Employees are eligible for the following benefits:
One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.
In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.
Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
