Position: Saturday Course Teacher

Department: The Saturday Course

Location: CSG 128, Milton Academy Campus, Milton, MA

Hours: Saturdays - Academic Year, 7:00am - 3:00pm

FLSA: Exempt

Salary: $1,440 stipend per session (5 Saturdays, 40 hours' total or 8 hours a day from approximately 7am - 3pm)

Milton Academy is an independent college preparatory K12 school, boarding and day in grades 912, located just outside of Boston.

Summary of Position:

Milton Academy seeks teachers for The Saturday Course, an enrichment program for public school children in Grades 4-8 with strong academic skills. Independently motivated students can learn compelling material in a fun and exciting environment. Founded in 1978, The Saturday Course has been an integral part of the Academys commitment to public/private partnerships. Ideal candidates will have experience in teaching subjects in which they are passionate.

Please review our Sample Course List. as an example of the types of classes we have offered. Some specific subject areas that we are seeking at this time include but are not limited to: animals (zoology), archaeology, astronomy, aviation, creative writing, journalism, sports science, speech and debate. We encourage applicants to provide a cover letter with details about the course(s) youd be interested in teaching.

Hours for this position are 7:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays during program dates. There are 5 sessions during the academic year each session consists of five Saturdays. Candidates are not required to commit to teaching all sessions.

Education/Certification/Licensure

Required: A bachelors degree preferred

Experience

Required: Minimum of three years of proven experience in a specific course of study.

Preferred: Experience teaching students in Grades 4-8

Competencies

Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated computer expertise, including proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies.

  • Understanding of confidentiality and related issues.

  • Desire to be a part of a dynamic educational community.

Physical Abilities

Required:

  • Must be able to move around the Milton Academy campus without restriction.

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
