About the Opportunity
PROLIM is currently seeking a Supply Chain Specialist 2 for one of our top clients in Newport News, Virginia. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a supply chain professional to support procurement and purchasing operations within a fast-paced industrial environment.
The successful candidate will manage high-volume purchasing activities, collaborate with engineering and program teams, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure timely procurement of materials, supplies, and services required to support critical business operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase a high volume and variety of materials, supplies, and services.
  • Evaluate supplier bids and proposals.
  • Select and recommend suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, service agreements, and contract terms.
  • Process and manage purchase orders through completion.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to resolve issues involving:
    • Damaged materials
    • Product rejections
    • Shipping losses
    • Over-shipments
    • Order cancellations
    • Engineering changes
  • Conduct supplier performance evaluations and site visits when required.
  • Monitor supplier production capabilities and delivery performance.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, planning, and program management teams.
  • Support invoice processing and purchase order reconciliation.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address daily procurement challenges and ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Maintain procurement records and ensure compliance with company purchasing policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience; OR
  • Master's Degree and 1 year of relevant experience; OR
  • 4 years of related exempt experience may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree; OR
  • 8 years of non-related exempt experience may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree; OR
  • Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, sourcing, or vendor management.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
