The Senior SAP Basis Administrator serves as a senior technical authority for the architecture, administration, availability, performance, and operational reliability of FFF Enterprises' SAP landscape hosted on Google Cloud. The position provides hands-on technical leadership across production, non-production, sandbox, and disaster recovery environments and supports SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, Solution Manager, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and related technologies.

The role is accountable for stable and resilient SAP technical operations, including platform administration, monitoring, performance optimization, incident and problem resolution, transport and change management, upgrades, patching, refreshes, security coordination, high availability, disaster recovery, cloud initiatives, and production support. The Senior SAP Basis Administrator provides advanced technical judgment during critical events, coordinates cross-functional response and vendor escalation, and maintains disciplined operational documentation, control evidence, and recovery readiness.

Working across SAP functional teams, infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, database, application, business stakeholders, and retained managed service providers, the position contributes to platform modernization, production readiness, technical risk reduction, and long-term SAP operating model maturity. The role requires deep SAP Basis expertise , strong ownership, independent problem solving, clear business-oriented communication, and participation in 24x7 production support and on-call coverage for critical enterprise systems.

Essential Functions and Duties

SAP Platform Administration & Technical Ownership:

  • Administer SAP production, non-production, sandbox, and disaster recovery environments supporting enterprise business operations.
  • Perform advanced SAP Basis administration, including system startup and shutdown, client administration, profile and parameter maintenance, RFC configuration, spool and printer administration, batch processing oversight, and system health validation.
  • Maintain technical oversight of SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, Solution Manager, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP GUI, Fiori, and other applicable SAP technical components within the enterprise landscape.
  • Maintain environment structures, configuration documentation, technical procedures, system diagrams, dependency records, operational runbooks, and escalation references.
  • Apply disciplined production administration practices consistent with established change controls, security requirements, operating standards, and business-critical service expectations.
  • Serve as a senior internal escalation resource for complex SAP Basis issues requiring advanced technical analysis, coordination, or judgment.

Monitoring, Performance & Operational Reliability:

  • Monitor SAP application servers, work processes, updates, locks, queues, dumps, system logs, background jobs, interfaces, IDocs, RFCs, database status, workload, memory, CPU, disk capacity, and system availability.
  • Review alerts, failed jobs, degraded performance, system exceptions, and recurring technical events todeterminebusiness impact, urgency, root cause, and required action.
  • Execute andvalidaterecurring SAP operational health checks andidentifyemerging reliability, performance, capacity, or control concerns before they affect production operations.
  • Analyze workload, response time, database performance, table growth, background processing, application-serverutilization, and other technical indicators toidentifybottlenecks and optimization opportunities.
  • Coordinate performance tuning and technical remediation across SAP Basis, database, infrastructure, network, middleware, application, and managed service teams.
  • Maintain and refine monitoring thresholds, alert-response procedures, operational checklists, performance baselines, and technicalsupportrunbooks.
  • Support enterprise workload automation, including Run My Jobs and other applicable scheduling or automation capabilities within the SAP environment.

Incident, Problem & Production Recovery Management:

  • Provide advanced technical triage and troubleshooting for SAP outages, failed jobs, degraded performance, transport failures, access issues, interface interruptions, system errors, and other production-impacting events.
  • Assess incident severity based on system availability, affected business processes, transaction criticality, operational disruption, financial exposure, compliance implications, customer impact, and recovery urgency.
  • Coordinate Severity 1 and other high-priority incidentresponse, including technical diagnosis, containment, escalation, stakeholder communication, recovery execution, and validation.
  • Lead or coordinate cross-functional technical response involving SAP, infrastructure, networking, database, cybersecurity, middleware, cloud hosting, application teams, and external support partners.
  • Participate in incident bridges, war-room activities, root cause analysis, after-action reviews, and lessons-learned sessions for significant SAP events.
  • Document incident timelines, technical findings, root causes, recovery actions, validation results, corrective actions, and long-term remediation plans.
  • Track recurring incidents, chronic technical issues, unresolved remediation items, and technical debt; recommend sustainable corrective and preventive actions to reduce future business risk.

Transport, Change & Release Management:

  • Administer SAP transport management across development, test, quality assurance, and production environments.
  • Import, monitor, troubleshoot, andvalidatetransportsin accordance withapproved change andrelease-managementprocedures.
  • Review transport sequencing, dependencies, import errors, object conflicts, production-readiness risks, and rollback considerations before implementation.
  • Coordinate with SAP functional analysts, developers, infrastructure, cybersecurity, vendors, and business stakeholders for planned releases, emergency fixes, configuration changes, and production migrations.
  • Ensure production changes are appropriately approved, tested, scheduled, documented, communicated, and supported by rollback or contingency planning.
  • Maintain transport logs, change records, approvals, technical validation results, and audit-ready production traceability.

Platform Lifecycle, Cloud & Modernization:

  • Lead or support SAP kernel updates, support packs, enhancement packages, add-ons, certificates, licenses, system copies, client copies, system refreshes, and other platform lifecycle activities.
  • Coordinate technical maintenance activities, downtime requirements, testing, post-maintenance validation, and issue remediation across internal teams and external partners.
  • Support SAP upgrades, migrations, cloud initiatives, and infrastructure modernization involving Google Cloud Platform and, as applicable, AWS, Microsoft Azure, or SAP RISE.
  • Assess technical impacts associated with platform changes, including connectivity, interfaces, security, performance, capacity, downtime, recovery, and operational dependencies.
  • Evaluate emerging SAP technologies and recommend platform, infrastructure, automation, and modernization improvements aligned with enterprise requirements.
  • Maintain lifecycle documentation, upgrade procedures, validation evidence, technical dependency records, rollback considerations, and future-state platform requirements.

SAP Security, Technical Controls & Audit Readiness:

  • Partner with cybersecurity and SAP functional teams on SAP technical security, including SNC, SSO, SSL certificates,SAProuter, user administration,authorization troubleshooting, privileged access, access reviews, and segregation-of-duties support.
  • Monitor and escalate failed logons, unauthorized access concerns, expired certificates, insecure configurations, security exceptions, control gaps, and other technical security indicators.
  • Support SAP technical controls related to production administration, change management, system access, logging, monitoring, privileged activity, remediation tracking, andevidenceretention.
  • Maintain complete and traceable documentation supporting technical control operation, audit response, access procedures, change evidence, andcorrective-actionactivities.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity and IT leadership when SAP technical events present elevated security, access, compliance, confidentiality, or business-continuity risk.
  • Support internal and external audit activities throughtimelyevidence collection, technical explanation, issue remediation, and control validation.

High Availability, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity:

  • Support SAP high-availability architecture, backup monitoring, recovery validation, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity readiness.
  • Coordinate disaster recovery testing andrecovery-procedurevalidation with infrastructure, cybersecurity, vendors, and business continuity stakeholders.
  • Support recoverypoint, recovery time, failover, restore, recovery validation, and post-recovery confirmation activities for SAP systems.
  • Identifyrecovery risks, technical dependencies, single points of failure, documentation gaps, capacity constraints, and continuity concerns requiring remediation.
  • Provide technical support during emergency recovery activities, outages, and business continuity events affecting SAP services.
  • Maintain current recovery runbooks, escalation contacts, technical procedures, dependency documentation, validation steps, and continuity support references.

Managed Services, Vendor & On-Call Coordination:

  • Serve as a senior internal coordination point for SAP Basis activities performed withProteraor other SAP managed service and consulting partners.
  • Coordinate vendor support for off-hours coverage, complex troubleshooting, planned maintenance, upgrades, outages, specialized remediation, escalation events, and production recovery.
  • Track vendor incidents, service responses, technical findings, open remediation items, recurring issues, service-level concerns, and required follow-through.
  • Promote effective knowledge transfer from external providers to internal IT resources and strengthen internal SAP technical capability whereappropriate.
  • Maintain clear operating boundaries, escalation paths, and accountability between internal SAP Basis responsibilities andretainedmanaged-service support.
  • Identifyvendor dependency, coverage, documentation, or support-model risks and recommend improvements to service effectiveness and operational resilience.
  • Participate in 24x7 production support and on-call rotations for critical SAP systems, including after-hoursincident response, maintenance, and escalation asrequired.

Enterprise Projects, Integrations & Production Readiness:

  • Provide SAP Basis technical leadership for enterprise projects, integrations, migrations, enhancements, reporting initiatives, modernization efforts, and business-process changes.
  • Assess technical impacts related to system changes, interfaces, connectivity, security, performance, downtime, testing, data movement, infrastructure dependencies, and production readiness.
  • Support cutover planning, go-live readiness, production migration,hypercare, stabilization, technical validation, and post-implementation support.
  • Coordinate with SAP functional teams, developers, infrastructure, cybersecurity, finance, supply chain, distribution, business operations, and external vendors to resolve technical dependencies and implementation risks.
  • Communicate technical risks, constraints, dependencies, recommendations, andrequireddecisions in clear business-oriented terms.
  • Ensure project-related technical documentation, runbooks, validation evidence, and support transitions are complete before operational handoff.

Technical Governance, Risk & Continuous Improvement:

  • Apply enterprise technology governance requirements related to SAP availability, change control, incident management, security, recovery readiness, production support, and operational documentation.
  • Identify, document, communicate, and help mitigate technical risks affecting SAP stability, performance, security, recoverability, compliance, customer operations, or business continuity.

  • Contribute to technology risk assessments, operational reviews, audit activities, control evaluations, remediation initiatives, and SAP support-model improvements.
  • Develop andmaintaintechnical standards, runbooks, escalation matrices, recovery procedures, production-support playbooks, and other operational references.
  • Recommend improvements that strengthen platform reliability,monitoringmaturity, automation, operational efficiency, internal capability, and user experience.
  • Provide senior technical recommendationsregardingSAP platform architecture,operating-model maturity, vendor dependency, future-state infrastructure, and modernization strategy.
