Job description

Position: Cost Accountant

Department: Finance

Functional Area: Finance

Classification : Non-Exempt Exempt

Reporting Structure: Head of Finance

Educational Background Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in operational finance, plant/corporate accounting, and leadership of accounting teams.
  • Demonstrated SAP proficiency and advanced Excel skills.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, industrial, or multi‑site environments strongly preferred.

Skills and Training

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail and organizational discipline; strong control mindset.

Basic Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, with required experience in SAP, and advanced proficiency in Excel.

Essential Functions Required for Job

  • Prepare and analyze cost reports, monitor cost variances and identify inefficiencies to support budgeting and financial planning.
  • Develop and maintain standard costs for products and services, prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts, and assist in capital expenditure proposals.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, perform variance analysis, and collaborate with production teams to ensure cost control measures are implemented.
  • Work with various departments to optimize purchasing practices, production efficiency, and overall cost management strategies.

Interaction Required: Within the company and Externally

  • All Internal Departments, Plant/Operations Leadership, Supply Chain, and Executive Management.
  • External Auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and regulatory authorities.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily office‑based with regular interaction with production facilities as needed.
  • Standard physical requirements for office work (e.g., sitting, typing, screen use); additional hours during month end and budget cycles.
