Job description

SRM Concrete is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Fleet Sandblaster to join our fleet maintenance team. In this role, you'll be responsible for preparing ready-mix trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and fleet components for repair and painting by safely removing rust, corrosion, old coatings, and surface contaminants through abrasive blasting techniques.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in sandblasting, abrasive blasting, industrial surface preparation, automotive restoration, heavy equipment maintenance, or commercial truck repair who takes pride in producing high-quality work in a safe and efficient environment.


As a Fleet Sandblaster, you will play a critical role in restoring and preparing fleet equipment by:

  • Operate sandblasting and abrasive blasting equipment to remove rust, paint, corrosion, and other contaminants from fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Prepare mixer trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and components for body repair and painting.
  • Clean, inspect, and prepare metal surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of primers and coatings.
  • Mask and protect surrounding components before blasting operations.
  • Identify damaged or deteriorated areas requiring additional repair.
  • Safely operate air compressors, blast pots, hoses, and related blasting equipment.
  • Load, unload, and properly maintain blasting media.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of blasting equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while minimizing dust and debris.
  • Properly dispose of blasting media and waste materials in accordance with environmental and company regulations.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and hearing protection.
  • Collaborate with fleet technicians, body repair technicians, and paint technicians to ensure equipment is prepared on schedule.
  • Assist with additional shop duties as needed.

We're looking for someone who is safety-focused, dependable, and experienced in industrial surface preparation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience operating sandblasting or abrasive blasting equipment.
  • Experience preparing commercial trucks, heavy equipment, industrial equipment, or automotive components for paint.
  • Knowledge of various blasting media and surface preparation techniques.
  • Ability to identify corrosion, rust damage, and surface defects.
  • Experience working around steel, aluminum, and other metals.
  • Familiarity with industrial paint preparation processes.
  • Ability to safely operate compressors, blasting equipment, forklifts, and shop tools.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, respiratory protection, PPE requirements, and hazardous waste disposal procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment.
