TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE!

The Virginia Beach Field House is Virginia’s premier indoor sports facility. With over 175,000 square feet, we offer leagues, camps, clinics, and tournaments for youth and adults in soccer, flag football, volleyball, basketball, arena (indoor) baseball and softball, field hockey, lacrosse, dodge ball, sand volleyball, sand flag football, sand soccer and other social sports. We also host birthday and team parties, corporate events, and other organized activities. The Virginia Beach Field House has 6 turf fields, 8 regulation volleyball courts, 4 basketball courts, 8 sand volleyball courts, 2 sand fields, multiple party rooms, an arcade, and an indoor Fun Zone. Guests are encouraged to visit our fully stocked food court and lounge. In addition, we proudly carry several beers on tap and by the bottle for those patrons over 21 years of age who enjoy adult beverages. We have full locker rooms with day lockers and showers. For entertainment we have over 40 flat screen TV’s throughout the building, and four 110’ giant screen TV’s in our lounge. For the best indoor sports - TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE!

The Virginia Beach Field House is currently accepting applications for Birthday Party Host. The Birthday Party Host is responsible for providing an excellent guest experience. The Birthday Party Host’s responsibilities include executing various activities and setting up party rooms. You are delivering the experience from start to finish. This part-time position reports directly to the Logistics and Communications Coordinator.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Must have leadership capability

  • Must have excellent guest service skills

  • Must be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skills

  • Must have strong time-management skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize

  • Must demonstrate the desire to work with kids

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and work with kids of all ages and their parents.

  • Must supervise participants and ensure the playing/performance area is safe for all participants

  • Must be able to work irregular shifts to include nights, and holidays as needed

  • Must be available on weekends, no exceptions.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the Logistics and Communications Coordinator and/or the General Manager


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prepare party rooms and activity space prior to the start of party with all necessary supplies (i.e.-sports equipment, plates, napkins, etc.)

  • Communicate with the kitchen regarding food orders

  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding activities, as well as any preferred changes

  • Assist and communicate with VBFH staff and/or Manager on Duty

  • Lead activities while maintaining high energy, focus and attention of participants

  • Ensure the participants are actively engaged and are having fun

  • Deliver and serve food and beverages

  • Clean party room and playing surfaces in a timely manner

  • In order to provide the best possible guest service, party hosts will take time with parents and orient them to the facility and their party areas

  • Party Hosts are expected to have detailed knowledge of the facility and programs offerings

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Ability to communicate in languages other than English is preferred.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Understanding and use of a Windows-based computer workstation is required. Use of peripheral devices is strongly preferred (e.g. scanners, cameras (still and motion), bar code readers, etc).
