Position Summary

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Learn to select type and size of pipe, conduit, and related material according to job specification
  • Learn to assist skilled craftsman to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install conduit
  • Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work sites
  • Learn to disassemble malfunctioning instruments or test equipment and examine and test mechanisms and circuitry for defects
  • Assist with replacement or repair of defective parts, using hand tools
  • Assist in layout work.
  • Learn to install, maintain, test and repair electrical systems including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers and switches.
  • Assist with opening switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards.
  • Learn to identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments.
  • Learn to operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment.

Qualifications
  • Puede requerir un diploma de educacion media superior o su equivalente con anos de experiencia previa en el campo o en un area relacionada.
  • Debe poseer los conocimientos, habilidades y destrezas necesarios para el puesto.
  • Capacidad para comprender, seguir y transmitir instrucciones escritas y orales y comunicarse eficazmente con la gerencia/supervision.
  • Experiencia de campo en la disciplina elegida.
  • Conocimiento del uso seguro y eficiente de herramientas manuales, electricas y de trazado
Requirements
  • Must have all required tools
  • Must understand electrical hazards associated with transmission and distribution voltage substation construction
  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
  • Performs other duties as required.
