Position summary:
The responsibility ofthe Sample Technician is to setup and operate alltufting machines and blower unitsin the Pilot Plant for the purpose of producing first pass quality carpet samples.
Educational requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency preferred.

Skills and experience:

  • 2 years tufting operator experiencerequired.

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

  • Basic mathematical skills required

  • Demonstrate leadership

  • Must have normal color vision or average to above-average shade discernment

Essential duties:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating all sample tufting machines to produce carpet samples in a quality, efficient manner.

  • Make mechanical adjustments such as bed plate, presser foot, ETC.

  • Adjust pile heights, stitch rates

  • Build pattern

  • Coordinate with designers to reach desired specifications

  • Mend all outs

  • Run tufting machines as assigned.

  • Maintain individual and departmental production records.

  • Perform and record weight checks as outlined.

  • Blow up yarn to run on tufting machines.

  • Maintain housekeeping

  • Know and comply with all safety rules.

  • Check for crossed end / Pattern misdraws and correct

  • Understand and be able to perform thread up and burn in procedures.

  • Assist in giving breaks to other operators as applicable.

  • Load Backing Rolls

  • Doff rolls of carpet after they reach the specified length.

  • Be aware of, and able to access, departmental material safety data sheets (MSDSs) via the P.A.S.S. system.

  • Be willing to learn and understand Interface's commitment to sustainability.

  • Ensure ISO procedures are followed.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Physical demands:

  • Occasional 10 and/or 12 hour shifts and 6-7 day work weeks

  • Standing 90% of shift

  • Lifting up to 30 lbs

  • Maneuver tube banksto designated locations

  • Bending, Lifting

Non-climate controlled manufacturing environment
