Job description

We make fish FUN!

Providing crave-worthy, reimagined seafood experiences with every bite, Honey Smoked Fish Co. is an entrepreneurial, rapidly growing manufacturer of ready-to-eat smoked salmon products. Once you try it, you will understand the meaning of crave-worthy. Driven by our adherence to high quality, fresh ingredients, and our proprietary smoking process, we make the best tasting hot smoked salmon on the market that is a healthy, convenient protein, and can be used as an ingredient in almost any meal or occasion. We proudly serve the nation’s largest retailers including Costco, Sam’s Club, Kroger, Walmart, and Target, among many other retailers and distribution channels.

It may sound silly, but we collectively believe our team’s adherence to core values is the key to long term success.
  • Commitment – we give 100% of our effort, 100% of the time.
  • Continuous Innovation & Growth – inherent drive to succeed, adapt, and innovate individually and as a team.
  • Excellence – we’re committed to providing crave-worthy quality products our customers expect, every time.
  • Teamwork – we ask questions like “how can I help?” and are willing to work across departments.
  • Doing The Right Thing – we act in the best interests of our customers, employees, and business partners at all times.
Role:
Based in Denver, CO, the Brand Manager position is a strategic, general management role responsible for the commercial performance and growth of the Honey Smoked Fish branded product line. This is a data and strategy-driven role rather than a creative/content first marketing role — you will use consumption data, category insight, and cross-functional leadership to determine where and how we invest across the marketing and shopper marketing mix, and you will direct our marketing agency partners to ensure creative execution supports velocity performance at shelf. If you are an analytical, commercially-minded brand or product leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, we would love to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
  • Own the brand’s strategic marketing investment mix, making data-backed recommendations on the optimal allocation between conversion-focused retail media networks (e.g., Amazon, Walmart Connect, Kroger Precision Marketing, Instacart), consideration-building programs (sampling, trial, promotion), and broader awareness investments (paid media, partnerships, sponsorships) to maximize ROI and growth.
  • Leverage SPINS and other syndicated consumption data (IRI/Circana, 8451) to track category and competitive trends, measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, and translate insights into clear business recommendations.
  • Serve as the strategic lead for our marketing agency partners (creative, media, shopper), setting the brief and business context so creative development supports brand performance and conversion at shelf — not just brand aesthetics.
  • Plan and execute shopper marketing programs — in-store, digital, and retailer.com — including sampling, trial, and promotional programs that convert awareness into purchase.
  • Assist with core product management across the existing portfolio, including pricing strategy, packaging, claims, and prioritization of optimizations based on consumption data and market trends.
  • Support New Product Development and R&D efforts, using consumption and market data to inform portfolio strategy.
  • Assist with managing the marketing budget across retail media, sampling/trial, promotion, paid media, and partnerships, continually reallocating spend based on ROI and performance.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Trade Marketing, and Finance to build customer-specific go-to-market and trade spend plans.
  • Report key KPIs (consumption, market share, ROAS, ROI, velocity) by channel and initiative, and continuously optimize the marketing mix for improved performance.
  • Management of our digital storefront (Shopify, Amazon) and web presence.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field required; MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a CPG brand management or product management role, preferably in Food & Beverage.
  • Direct experience using SPINS or other syndicated consumption data (IRI/Circana, Nielsen) to guide strategic decisions — required.
  • Proven experience developing and executing shopper marketing programs (sampling, trial, promotion) and evaluating retail media / conversion programs.
  • Experience managing external agency partners, with the ability to set strategic direction for creative development rather than executing creative personally.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skillset; comfortable building and defending a media mix and ROI model across the funnel.
  • General management mindset — comfortable owning trade-offs across a portfolio’s P&L, not solely brand storytelling.
  • Inherently believes in our core values.

Other:
This role is on-site at our company headquarters in Denver, CO. Travel requirements are minimal.

Benefits include flexible time off, majority company funded health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and a 401(k) with an employer defined match up to 4%.
