Job description

Same Day Surgery Technician

Location: Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866

Employment Type: Full Time

Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday: 2 shifts available! 

9:00 am - 5:30 pm 

10:00 am - 6:30 pm 

Department: Phase II Recovery 

Salary Range: $18.34 - $25.00/ hour based on verified education and experience

About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated Same Day Surgery Technician to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you’ll be a vital part of our patient care team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Responds to patient/family requests.
  • Tells patient/family what to expect, when and why; informs patient/family when problems arise.
  • Documents and communicates patient's vital signs and any other pertinent information to appropriate members of the health care team.
  • Delivers care to patients as directed by the Registered Nurse with maximum attention to the comfort and satisfaction needs of the patient. 
  • Assists in preparing patients for special treatments or procedures and performs surgical scrubs.
  • Assist in chart preparation
  • Transports patients as needed and demonstrates a supportive and willing attitude.
  • Maintains a tracking system of each patient receiving and disseminating all incoming and outgoing communications for the department.
  • Assist staff in preparing for the next day’s schedule. I.e. setting up equipment, keeping unit clean and stocked. 
  • Uses clinical equipment accurately and correctly when needed to perform basic patient care.
  • Maintains an appropriate inventory of supplies.
  • Submits appropriate work orders, orders supplies, internal and external special orders.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent. 
  • Hospital patient care experience preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year validated experience as a nursing assistant in a direct medical patient care setting preferred

  • Ability to organize and establish day-to-day priorities while utilizing critical thinking skills in all aspects of the job.

  • Must be able to multi-task while remaining professional, focused, composed and positive.

  • Must be flexible to take initiative and embrace new opportunities to grow both personally and organizationally.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
