As a Surgical Physician Assistant, you will work alongside highly skilled surgeons and healthcare professionals, participating in a variety of inpatient and outpatient surgical cases. • Conduct thorough assessments of the physical and mental states of patients by performing comprehensive physical examinations and obtaining detailed medical histories.
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests, effectively interpreting results to inform further patient management and treatment plans.
• Prescribe and administer medications and therapeutic treatments within approved protocols, ensuring each intervention meets safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness criteria.
• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with surgical teams, continually reassessing patient responses and modifying care as necessary based on evidence-based practices.
• Educate patients and their families on managing health conditions, discussing medication regimens, potential side effects, and methods for promoting overall health and well-being.
• Document patient care procedures and outcomes meticulously, initiating timely referrals and consultations when issues arise that exceed the scope of practice.
• Provide specialized consultation services related to surgical practices and patient care.
• Manage patient care in an array of healthcare settings beyond the primary clinic, including inpatient care and emergency services.
• Perform specific invasive procedures as granted by supervising physicians, standing ready to meet dynamic patient needs.
• Be available for additional patient care duties as required to meet departmental coverage needs.

As a Surgical Physician Assistant, you will engage with a diverse patient population, encompassing a wide array of surgical cases. • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Certificates in Basic Life Support (BLS), which must be obtained within 30 days of hiring.
• A valid Physician Assistant license through the state of Virginia.
• A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in surgical assistance.
• Strong critical thinking abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to team collaboration.

• Experience in a surgical setting or surgical specialty.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation best practices.
