Position Overview:

The Maintenance Foreman serves as the on-site leader for assigned commercial landscape maintenance crews, responsible for coordinating daily field operations while actively working alongside the team. This role ensures that commercial landscape maintenance services—including turf management, detail pruning, weed control, flower bed care, and property cleanup—are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with CLM quality standards, operational systems, and contract specifications. The Foreman translates service plans into consistent field execution while maintaining team accountability.

Core Results & Accountability:

The Maintenance Foreman is accountable for driving the following outcomes:

· Leading crew members in the execution and completion of daily landscape maintenance routes

· Ensuring work is completed on schedule, within labor budgets, and to established CLM quality standards

· Maintaining job sites and commercial properties that reflect CLM standards for safety, organization, and professionalism

· Supporting Project Managers through accurate communication, daily documentation, and progress tracking

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, supervise, and mentor assigned crew members while actively participating in daily physical maintenance work
• Communicate daily route assignments, property expectations, safety guidelines, and priorities clearly to the crew
• Execute and oversee routine maintenance activities (e.g., mowing, edging, detail pruning, weed management, mulching, turf care, and seasonal property cleanups) in strict accordance with contract specifications
• Monitor daily production, labor efficiency, and crew compliance with required safety and operational systems
• Enforce safety protocols, conduct vehicle/equipment pre-trip inspections, and promptly address or report unsafe conditions
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional client properties, staging areas, and company vehicles
• Manage end-of-day pack-up, ensuring trucks, trailers, tools, and power equipment are cleaned, maintained, and prepared for the following workday
• Complete required daily documentation, including time tracking, property updates, and punch lists using company management software
• Address crew performance issues constructively using established company procedures
• Seasonal Weather Response: Lead assigned crews during seasonal snow and ice management operations as needed, including salt application, site clearing, route management, and weather monitoring during winter months

Experience & Practical Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in commercial landscape maintenance, turf care, or groundskeeping environments
• Strong working knowledge of commercial landscape equipment, tools, plant health care, and field safety practices
• Hands-on proficiency operating commercial power equipment (e.g., zero-turn mowers, walk-behind mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge shearers)
• Proven track record leading or guiding crew members in an outdoor field environment
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow daily route sheets, property maintenance maps, and work orders
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (preferred for operating company vehicles and trailers)

Training & Professional Development:

Commercial Landscape Management invests in the development of its field leaders by providing:

• Safety, operational, and equipment maintenance training
• Support for industry-recognized certification pathways, including Landscape Technician Certification programs and applicator licensing, based on role and performance

Pay: $20 per hour

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

• Physical Stamina & Mobility: Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy physical work outdoors for extended periods, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and performing repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, and arms.
• Lifting Capacity: Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move heavy materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds, and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment or team lifting.
• Equipment & Tool Operation: Ability to safely operate and demonstrate the proper use of commercial mowers, power blowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, and hand tools commonly used in landscape maintenance.
• Work Location & Transport: Primary work is performed across multiple commercial client properties per day; must be able to safely drive, transport crews, and enter/exit company trucks and trailers during route execution.
• Environmental & Weather Conditions: Perform outdoor work in all weather extremes—including severe summer heat, rain, humidity, freezing winter cold, dark/overnight conditions, and icy surfaces—with exposure to active site environments, dust, pollen, chemical treatments, noise, traffic, and potentially hazardous conditions.
• Sensory & Communication: Sufficient visual acuity and spatial awareness to read property maps, safely operate mowers and equipment, and identify hazards. Clear hearing and speech to communicate effectively with crews, managers, and clients in high-noise field environments.
• Work Schedule & Availability: Ability and willingness to work overtime as required by route demands and seasonality. Must maintain flexible availability for night, early morning, weekend, and holiday shifts during winter weather events (e.g., salting and snow management).
