Duties
Primary Responsibilities
Safely transport freight while complying with all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
Pick up and deliver customer loads safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Operate primarily within the Chicago, IL market and surrounding areas with local and regional opportunities available.
Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and en-route vehicle inspections.
Maintain accurate electronic logs using the Motive ELD system.
Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, and shipping/receiving personnel.
Ensure all shipping documents and delivery paperwork are completed accurately.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained tractor.
Monitor hours of service and operate within all applicable regulations.
Report equipment issues or delays promptly.
Minimize downtime through effective trip planning and communication.
Deliver exceptional customer service during every pickup and delivery.
Qualifications
Valid Class A CDL
Own or lease a well-maintained Class 8 tractor
Military driving experience may be considered
Valid DOT Medical Card
Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
No excessive moving violations
No serious traffic offenses
Ability to pass a DOT drug screen
Current FMCSA Clearinghouse registration with no prohibited status
Ability to meet all DOT and FMCSA regulations
Professional appearance and customer service attitude
Strong commitment to safety and on-time service
Equipment Requirements
Late-model tractor in safe operating condition
Preferred Qualifications
Intermodal or container experience (preferred but not required)
TWIC Card (preferred if applicable to freight)
Ability to communicate professionally with customers and dispatch
Reliable, dependable, and self-motivated
