Job description

Job Summary:
Perform forklift operator functions in production and warehouse areas. Moving quantities of packaged products, equipment, and raw materials throughout the facility as directed. Performing general cleaning and any other functions required by management.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in English.
  • Basic math.
  • Basic computer skills.
Physical Demands:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, handle, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to climb, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Audiogram
o Adequate hearing in better ear < 40 dB average hearing loss in 500, 1K, 2K, 3K, and 4K (without hearing aid).
Vision
o Vision of at least 20/40 in each eye (with or without corrective lenses) (Distance only).
o Ability to distinguish colors (red, amber, and green).
o Normal depth perception, field of vision at least 70 degrees, reaction time, and manual dexterity.
Work Hours:
  • Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, days, nights, weekends, and holidays from 6(am/pm) to 6(am/pm).
o Note this is a modified DuPont schedule.
  • 15 min. paid breaks every two hours, 8 o'clock, 10 o'clock, 2 o'clock, 4 o'clock
  • 30 min. Unpaid lunch @ 12 o'clock.
o Note that break times may be adjusted by the Supervisor and Salt Operator due to the running of special products or other production issues that may arise.
Post-Hire Training Requirements:
  • Successfully complete basic SQF (Safe Quality Foods) training and pass all quizzes.
  • Complete all required safety and facility trainings and tests.
  • Successfully complete the forklift operators training course, pass related quizzes, and the driving test to receive a forklift operator license.
o Note: Passing the training and quizzes is a requirement of employment. Failing to do so will result in discharge.
Responsibilities:
  • Safety is the first priority. Report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Receive and transport pallets of products, raw materials, hoppers, and equipment from the Packaging department to the Warehouse and the outside storage areas. Storing product in a safe and organized manner as directed.
  • Scan Finished product placards to add to inventory
  • Keep Machine Operators supplied with production raw materials and supplies, such as boxes of empty paper and poly bags, plastic wrap, pallets, and slip sheets.
  • Keep downstream machines supplied with film, labels, and ink ribbons.
  • Keeping the downstream machine cleared of finished product.
  • Empty Hoppers at the end of shifts and as needed throughout the day.
  • Bring in empty pallets throughout the day as needed.
  • Monitors and maintains product quality. Inspecting, restacking, and rewrapping packaged products as needed.
  • Assist Salt Operator and Machine Operators with plant maintenance and operations of mobile equipment and packaging line equipment as needed. Performing routine and preventative maintenance as directed by the Supervisor or delegate.
  • Maintain plant records, including line puller reports, forklift inspection sheets, and other relevant plant documentation as required.
  • Count and record finished products on Line Puller reports, which are then checked by Machine Operators to ensure the accuracy of daily production counts.
  • Maintain work area(s) in a clean and safe manner. Clean your assigned area(s) throughout the shift and make sure it is fully clean at the end of the shift. Assisting others as needed or requested by the Supervisor, Salt Operator, or Management.
  • Report needed repairs to Salt Operators to write work orders for repairs and call out Maintenance as needed.
  • Perform other facility tasks as required by the Production Supervisor, Salt Operator, Machine Operator, or Management.
Other Requirements
  • Must be able to complete and pass post-offer checks to include, but not limited to, background, drug, references, and education.
