Vulcan Steel Products wants to bring on board a bright, future leader in technology that can innovate and build upon existing technologies to help tackle the challenges of our IT initiatives. This opportunity will allow you to be an integral part of our current and future objectives while planning and caring for our existing tools, future custom tools, business systems and infrastructure. The Dev/Ops performs a variety of team tasks in deploying and maintaining all network, server, backup, and other IT infrastructure along with software development. Push initiatives including Disaster Recovery, safety and Security in compliance with company standards. The Dev/Ops will work with the IT Supervisor and other IT Staff to support all local technical operations.

Responsibilities
  • Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      • Maintain a safe work environment.
      • Respond to staff requests for support followed up with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and solutions.
      • Collaborate with IT team members to ensure department success.
      • Assist in the design, deploy, and maintain data center, network, and end user infrastructure.
      • Work with end users, management, and clients to assess and execute the needs of the business.
      • Documenting solutions and tracking support requests using a helpdesk and project management tool.
      • Manage tool updates, mitigate vulnerabilities, apply patching, and work to ensure proper security measures are taken at every turn.
      • Developing technical documentation including requirements and user manuals where needed.
      • Manage workload and work cohesively to achieve the greater goal.
Qualifications

Required

    • A bachelor's degree in computer programming, computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience
    • 3+ year of Database experience
    • 3+ years of Network and PC Maintenance experience
    • 3+ years of Virtual Server experience
    • History of process improvement and problem solving
    • Programing Knowledge and experience
    • Good verbal skills
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Strong desire to learn

Steel Dynamics is one of the largest and most diversified domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in the United States, with an estimated steelmaking and coating capacity of approximately 13 million tons, and facilities located throughout the United States and in Mexico. We operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality steel using electric arc furnace (EAF) technology with recycled ferrous scrap as the primary input. Our circular economy is powered by our three primary operating platforms: steel, metals recycling, and steel fabrication. Our steel operations produce steel products, including hot roll, cold roll, and coated sheet steel, structural steel beams and shapes, rail, engineered special-bar-quality steel, cold finished steel, merchant bar products, and specialty steel sections. Our metals recycling operations collect and process ferrous and nonferrous scrap from manufacturing and end-of-life items, such as automobiles, appliances, and machinery. This processed scrap is then sold to end-users for reuse, including our EAF steel mills, which produce new steel from the scrapped material. We sell a meaningful amount of steel to our own steel fabrication operations that in turn produce and sell structural steel joist and deck building systems to consumers.
