Can you make $500,000 a year in cyber security?

Salesforce cybersecurity professionals with advanced skills, certifications, and extensive experience can potentially earn $500,000 or more annually, especially in senior or executive roles such as security architects or chief information security officers. Achieving this level often requires expertise in cloud security, strong leadership, and a track record of managing complex security environments.

What is Salesforce Cybersecurity?

Salesforce Cybersecurity refers to the practices, tools, and protocols used to protect Salesforce platforms and data from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats. This includes managing user access, monitoring for suspicious activities, enforcing strong authentication, and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. Cybersecurity professionals in this field work to secure customer, business, and operational data within Salesforce through regular security assessments, configuration reviews, and response planning. They also stay updated on the latest threats and Salesforce security features to keep the platform safe. Effective Salesforce Cybersecurity is essential for organizations using Salesforce to prevent data loss, reputational damage, and regulatory penalties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Salesforce Cybersecurity professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Salesforce Cybersecurity professional, you need expertise in information security principles, Salesforce platform administration, and a background in IT or computer science, often validated by certifications like Salesforce Certified Security & Privacy or CISSP. Proficiency with Salesforce Shield, security controls, identity management, and monitoring tools is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills help you proactively identify threats and collaborate with stakeholders. These skills and qualities are vital to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and compliance of sensitive organizational data within Salesforce environments.

Does Salesforce have cyber security?

Salesforce cybersecurity involves protecting the company's cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) platform from threats and vulnerabilities. Salesforce employs multiple security measures, including data encryption, user access controls, and regular security audits, to safeguard client data. Cybersecurity professionals working with Salesforce need knowledge of cloud security, compliance standards, and tools like Salesforce Shield and Security Health Check.

Is Salesforce laying off 4000 employees?

There are no publicly confirmed reports of Salesforce laying off 4,000 employees. Salesforce, including roles related to cybersecurity and cloud services, periodically adjusts staffing levels based on business needs, but specific layoffs of that scale have not been verified. Job seekers should monitor official company communications for accurate updates.

What are some common challenges faced by Salesforce cybersecurity professionals when securing cloud-based data and applications?

Salesforce cybersecurity professionals often encounter challenges such as managing access controls across multiple user roles, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and monitoring for potential data breaches in a highly dynamic cloud environment. Since Salesforce integrates with numerous third-party applications, safeguarding data flows and preventing unauthorized access can require constant vigilance. Additionally, staying updated on the latest security patches and best practices is essential, as cyber threats and attack vectors are continually evolving in the cloud landscape.

Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. Here, ambition meets action. Tech meets trust. And innovation isn't a buzzword - it's a way of life. The world of work as we know it is changing and we're looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI, driving innovation, and keeping Salesforce's core values at the heart of it all.

Ready to level-up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You're in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.

We're seeking a CISO Advisor & Field CTO for Trusted Services to join our Platform Specialist team. In this senior advisory role, you'll serve as the bridge between Salesforce's security capabilities and the CISO/InfoSec community - engaging security leaders at the C-suite level to understand their most pressing enterprise security challenges, articulating Salesforce's security posture in their language, and accelerating trust and adoption of Salesforce Trusted Services solutions. You'll be the recognized face of Salesforce cybersecurity expertise in the field.

The Role

As Salesforce's CISO Advisor & Field CTO for Trusted Services, you bring deep IT cybersecurity & compliance leadership and incident response expertise to every customer engagement. You operate at the intersection of field sales, product strategy, partner ecosystem, and thought leadership - uniquely positioned to engage security leaders and support internal stakeholders across regulated and commercial industries with candor, credibility, and strategic insight. You work as part of a coordinated team motion alongside Security Architects and Solution Engineers who deliver technical depth while you own the strategic frame and CISO relationship. This role requires approximately 30-40% travel.

What You'll Do
  • Engage directly with CISOs, CIOs, and InfoSec leaders to understand their security priorities beyond the immediate Salesforce context, including broader AI initiatives, building trusted advisor relationships at the executive level.

  • Articulate Salesforce platform and AI security controls and best practices in terms that resonate with security leaders, referencing frameworks such as NIST, SOX, DORA, and NYDFS as applicable.

  • Guide customers on where they need to be - not just where they are today - to secure their enterprise for the agentic future, positioning security as an accelerator for Agentforce adoption rather than a compliance checkbox.

  • Engage and educate Salesforce platform owners and architects on necessary security controls. Act as the "bridge" to translate between Salesforce and IT/Infosec professionals.

  • Conduct discovery of enterprise security policies, procedures, and systems (SSPM, SIEM, etc.) to uncover critical gaps including identity and access management weaknesses, insecure integrations, insufficient event log monitoring, gaps in AI governance, and data lifecycle management deficiencies.

  • Lead and facilitate multi-customer security roundtables, executive dinners, and industry conference sessions (e.g., Gartner CISO Summit, Salesforce hosted events) to drive Salesforce and AI governance thought leadership in the CISO community.

Deal Support & Pipeline Acceleration
  • Support high-complexity, high-value security opportunities by engaging as a technical and strategic executive sponsor with CISO stakeholders across accounts such as financial services, healthcare, regulated government, and enterprise commercial.

  • Alongside Platform & Security Architects, guide customers through security evaluations, architectural decisions, and Salesforce Trusted Services positioning including Shield, Security Center, Event Monitoring, Backup & Recovery, and Data Detect.

  • Collaborate across account teams (AEs, SEs, CSG, ProServ) to develop security-led strategies that close complex deals

Technical Thought Leadership & Content Development
  • Develop and deliver original cybersecurity frameworks, including "Bridging the InfoSec SaaS Divide" and "Securing Agentic AI," through blog posts, whitepapers, InfoSecurity Magazine articles, conference presentations, and Dreamforce sessions.

  • Develop and deliver an automated unified methodology for Salesforce security assessments and read outs.

  • Serve as a guest speaker and subject matter expert for internal product and engineering teams, external partner enablement, and field Account Executive, Security Architect and Solution Engineer training programs.

  • Publish external technical content (e.g., forensic behavioral analysis, event log anomaly detection, agentic AI security) that positions Salesforce as a credible voice in enterprise cybersecurity.

Product Feedback & Internal Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary feedback loop between enterprise CISOs and Salesforce product and engineering teams, translating customer security concerns (e.g., insufficient OOTB logging, weak SIEM integrations, AI governance gaps) into actionable product insights.

  • Participate in Customer Advisory Boards

Internal Enablement & Field Readiness
  • Enable the broader field organization - including SEs, TAMs, and AEs - on how to navigate CISO conversations, position Salesforce security solutions within the InfoSec ecosystem, and execute Security Narrative-based engagement models.

  • Contribute to Trailhead LMS module updates, SE/SA AMA sessions, and security enablement programs.

  • Develop and curate security enablement content for internal Product Management collaboration and go-to-market readiness.

Partner & Ecosystem Engagement
  • Build and activate partner ecosystems to scale security delivery, including SI partners, ISV integrations and MSSPs.

  • Represent Salesforce in CISO-to-partner conversations and collaborate with partners on joint thought leadership.

What We're Looking For
  • 15+ years of IT cybersecurity leadership, consulting or analyst experience; including direct CISO or senior InfoSec leadership roles and/or deep advisory experience engaging C-suite security leaders.

  • Cutting edge AI governance and security experience and thought leadership. Familiarity with AI security governance, including securing agentic AI systems, LLM-based enterprise architectures, and AI-driven threat detection

  • Fluency in enterprise security frameworks and regulations including NIST Cybersecurity Framework, SOX, DORA, NYDFS, CMMC, and related compliance standards.

  • Demonstrated experience building and delivering thought leadership through publications, speaking engagements, and conference presentations in the cybersecurity field.

  • Strong familiarity with the SaaS security ecosystem, including SSPM solutions (e.g., Varonis, Obsidian), SIEM platforms (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike), and identity/access management best practices.

  • Experience with Saas / Salesforce security architecture, complications and tradeoffs. Experience or understanding of Salesforce security products (Shield, Security Center, Event Monitoring, Backup & Recovery) strongly preferred, or the ability to develop deep expertise rapidly.

  • Proven ability to drive revenue influence and pipeline acceleration through executive-level security engagement and deal support.

  • Advanced degree (Master's or above) in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, or a related field strongly preferred. Equivalent practitioner experience welcomed.

  • Background or familiarity with the security analyst community (Gartner, Forrester, IDC) a plus.

  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills - equally credible addressing a CISO roundtable, a field engineering team, or a product council.

  • Ability to navigate complicated internal corporate structures with multiple stakeholders.

  • A strategic advisor mindset: customer-first, active listening, collaborative, and deeply passionate about raising the bar on enterprise security.

  • Willingness to travel for in person exec engagements and events.

Why Join Us?

As CISO Advisor & Field CTO for Trusted Services, you'll occupy one of the most strategically impactful advisory roles in Salesforce's field organization - operating at the convergence of security, AI, and enterprise trust while driving revenue. You'll shape how the world's leading enterprises think about Salesforce and enterprise AI security, build the thought leadership that defines the industry conversation, and help customers protect their most critical data and operations. Join a team committed to making security an accelerator for innovation, not just a compliance checkbox.
