Direct Support Professional - No Nights, No Weekends!

Summary:

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Adult Day Services program, you will play a key role in enhancing the lives of adults with developmental disabilities. You will provide compassionate, person-centered support by facilitating daily living activities, leading individual and group programming, and fostering opportunities for community engagement and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a supportive team to create an inclusive, respectful, and empowering environment for all participants.

  • Provide guidance and encouragement to participants in achieving goals outlined in their individualized support plans.

  • Lead and supervise recreational and life-enrichment activities tailored to the abilities and interests of each participant.

  • Support participants with personal care needs, promoting dignity and comfort.

  • Prepare and serve meals or snacks, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards.

  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with participants, families, team members, and supervisors while maintaining confidentiality at all times.

  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and required trainings to continuously improve service quality.

  • Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the program.

  • Partner with the management team to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.

  • Facilitate meaningful community outings and experiences that encourage socialization and community inclusion.

  • Accurately document daily activities and observations, and promptly report any changes in a participant’s health or behavior to the appropriate team member.

  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the mission and values of the organization.

Direct Support Professional's Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Comfort and experience working with people with a variety of abilities.

Direct Support Professional's Knowledge, Skill and Ability

  • The Direct Support Professional must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be able to professionally communicate information, respond to questions, and maintain emotional control
  • Must have a high level of emotional maturity and control
  • Direct Support Professionals physically assist participants including pushing and manipulating wheelchairs
  • Must work independently and as part of a team
  • Must take personal responsibility having good judgment, patience, and flexibility in their work schedule
  • Direct Support Professionals are accepting of people, non-judgmental, non-prejudiced, and highly motivated.

Direct Support Professional's work schedule:

Monday through Friday

Flexibility in work hours depending on client needs and current census. Typically, 40 hours per week, eight hours per day, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.
