Technical Sales Representative

Location: Houston, Texas
Reports to: Director of Commercial

Position Summary

A growing construction-materials distributor is seeking a Technical Sales Representative to develop customer relationships and provide technical support throughout the region.

This position works with ready-mix producers, precast and concrete-product manufacturers, contractors, engineers, and other industry customers. The representative will help customers improve concrete performance, resolve technical challenges, and successfully use cement, slag, fly ash, and other supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs).

Responsibilities
  • Develop new business and expand existing customer relationships.

  • Provide technical guidance on cement, concrete, mix designs, and SCM applications.

  • Conduct customer visits, product presentations, testing, trial batching, and field evaluations.

  • Help troubleshoot concrete-production and performance issues.

  • Monitor regional market activity, customer needs, competitors, products, and pricing.

  • Coordinate with Technical Services, Operations, Customer Service, and Marketing.

  • Maintain sales activities and opportunities in the company’s CRM.

  • Represent the company at industry events and customer meetings.

Qualifications
  • Five or more years of sales experience in cement, concrete, construction materials, aggregates, building products, or a related industry.

  • Knowledge of concrete production and mix-design principles.

  • Demonstrated success building customer relationships and developing business.

  • Strong technical, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and think regionally.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, concrete industry management, construction management, engineering, materials science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.

  • Ability to travel regionally, including occasional overnight travel.

Experience with slag, fly ash, SCMs, ready-mix, precast concrete, quality control, or concrete testing is highly preferred.

ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I, NRMCA Concrete Technologist – Level III, or a related industry certification is a plus.
