Job description

Warren Oil Company, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Production Planning Manager in our Dunn, NC location.
Reporting to the VP Supply Chain, the Production Planning Manager will be responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; and compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.

Production Planning Manager Duties
  • Create level loaded Master Production Schedule while maintaining targeted inventory levels.
  • Ensure a consistent hand off of planning information to the local plant production personnel via the plant schedulers.
  • Maintain a valid capacity requirements plan that supports the master production schedule.
  • Identify and manage bottlenecks and capacity issues with the Production Management team, co-ordinate internally and externally the resolution of the issues.
  • Establish and monitor ERP system parameters, including safety stock levels for finished goods and raw material inventories.
  • Lead weekly/monthly Master Production Schedule meetings.
  • Liaise with Purchasing, Manufacturing Operations, Sales and Marketing to achieve on time delivery at optimum cost with optimum inventory levels.
  • Review and act on exceptions and priority projects on a weekly basis.
  • Lead the development of scheduling tools to increase the level of automation and reduce the manual nature of the Scheduling function.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to develop plant team knowledge relative to plant schedule optimization.
  • Work with Plant Managers and Sales to reserve capacity as necessary for specific jobs.
  • Create weekly/monthly reports and KPIs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Production Planning Requirements
  • Operations Management degree, or similar degree within a technical field along with at least 3-5 years of experience in planning/scheduling in a customized / engineered to order manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of three years of leadership experience.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • A proactive thinker with attention to detail.
  • Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
  • Ability to positively motivate individuals and teams to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Extensive knowledge and expert level user of Microsoft Office tools e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Knowledge of Intuitive ERP, or other MRP/ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of configuration control.
  • Experience working within an ISO quality plan is an asset.
  • Strong planning, organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Team attitude; eager to cooperate with others, has exceptional interpersonal-communication skills.
  • Understanding of and experience with Lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
