Their role is crucial in driving business growth and ensuring the company's products or services reach the right markets.

What do sales managers do?

Sales managers lead, supervise, and mentor a team of salespeople. They delegate job duties to their staff and set clear expectations and goals. They also prepare regular reports on sales figures for upper management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sales manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Manager, you need strong sales expertise, leadership abilities, and a solid understanding of sales strategies, typically supported by a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. Full-Time | On-Site | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Base Salary: $70,000 annually

Commission: 1.5% of new business generated by the sales team

About the Role

Metro Protection is seeking an experienced, driven Sales Manager to lead our business development team and help drive the next stage of our growth.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can coach a sales team, build relationships with senior decision-makers, and help close significant B2B contracts.

You will lead an established team of Account Executives, develop sales strategy, improve pipeline execution and accountability, and work directly with current and prospective clients on larger and more complex opportunities.

You will also help manage current relationships for recurring revenue and upsell opportunities.

This is not a desk-only management position. We are looking for a player-coach who is comfortable moving between sales leadership, client meetings, proposal strategy, negotiations, and closing business.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop our Account Executives to consistently achieve and exceed sales targets
  • Manage team pipeline, forecasting, prospecting activity, and overall sales performance
  • Conduct regular pipeline reviews, coaching sessions, and sales meetings
  • Help Account Executives advance and close larger or more complex opportunities
  • Build relationships with executives, property managers, business owners, loss prevention leaders, and other key decision-makers
  • Participate directly in strategic client presentations, site assessments, proposals, and contract negotiations
  • Develop strategies to increase new business throughout Southwest Washington and the Portland metropolitan market
  • Identify opportunities in commercial properties, retail, industrial, construction, multifamily, healthcare, and other target industries
  • Maintain strong CRM discipline and ensure opportunities, activities, next steps, and forecasts are accurately documented
  • Work collaboratively with Operations and company leadership to ensure proposed services can be delivered effectively and profitably
  • Help maintain pricing and margin discipline throughout the sales process
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop additional sales professionals as the company grows
  • Represent Metro Protection professionally at client meetings, networking events, and within the business community

What We're Looking For

  • Proven success in B2B sales, business development, or sales leadership
  • Experience managing, coaching, or developing sales professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to close significant B2B contracts
  • Comfortable selling to senior-level and executive decision-makers
  • Strong understanding of pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM-based sales processes
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to balance sales leadership with direct involvement in strategic opportunities
  • Strong business judgment and understanding of pricing, profitability, and contract value
  • Self-directed, accountable, competitive, and results-oriented

Private security, contract services, facilities services, commercial real estate, property management, staffing, or other recurring B2B service experience is highly desirable.

Compensation

This position includes:

$70,000 annual base salary

1.5% commission on new business generated by the sales team

Commission is uncapped, providing meaningful earning potential as the team and company grow.

The current sales organization consists of established Account Executives with individual annual new-business targets of approximately $1.2 million.

The Sales Manager will have the opportunity to increase their earning potential by improving team performance, developing larger opportunities, and helping expand the sales organization.

Why Metro Protection?

Metro Protection is a growing private security company serving businesses throughout the Pacific Northwest. We provide professional security solutions designed around the needs of our clients and the properties, employees, customers, and communities they serve.

We're looking for a sales leader who wants more than a maintenance role. This position offers the opportunity to build, influence, and scale a sales organization while working directly with company leadership.

The right person will have significant influence over how we approach new markets, develop our sales team, pursue strategic accounts, and grow the company.
