Job description

Switchgear Panel Sales Manager

Location: Rocklin, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Switchgear Panel Sales Manager to drive sales and bring new projects into our production team. This position manages projects from the initial customer inquiry and conceptual design through estimating, engineering, production, shipping, invoicing, and final customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales & Business Development

    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in manufacturing, construction, energy, infrastructure, and related industries.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, facility managers, engineers, procurement teams, and other customers.
    • Generate new project opportunities through inbound inquiries, website leads, referrals, and cold calling.
    • Prepare and deliver professional sales proposals, quotations, and presentations.
    • Negotiate proposals and work toward successful contract awards.
  • Customer Relations

    • Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective, current, and previous customers.
    • Respond to customer inquiries professionally, clearly, and promptly.
    • Understand customer requirements and translate them into practical panel solutions.
  • Concept Engineering

    • Take customer requirements from the initial inquiry through functionality and conceptual design.
    • Develop clear, concise, and tangible panel concepts that can be accurately estimated and proposed.
    • Work with customers to clarify technical requirements and project expectations.
  • Estimating & Proposals

    • Develop detailed project estimates, including:
      • Engineering costs
      • Submittal documentation
      • Materials
      • Production labor
      • Shipping
      • Incidental costs
    • Coordinate with the production team to establish current build lead times.
    • Prepare comprehensive proposals and quotations for customers.
  • Production Engineering & Project Management

    • After project award, work closely with the engineering team to develop a complete engineered product package.
    • Coordinate with engineering and production throughout the manufacturing and fabrication process.
    • Assist the production team in resolving project requirements and maintaining customer expectations.
  • Shipping & Project Closeout

    • Coordinate with production to ensure completed products are shipped to the customer's required location and on schedule.
    • Assist the accounting team in ensuring the invoicing and billing process runs smoothly.
    • Support projects through final closeout and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical panel or switchboard manufacturing or installation.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Direct experience with UL standards strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical panel assembly.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • UL 50
    • UL 67
    • UL 508A
    • UL 891
    • UL 1008
    • NEC requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Ability to develop electrical panel concepts based on customer requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, engineering, production, and accounting teams.
  • Strong organizational, estimating, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
