Job description

RedHelm is redefining what it means to be a technology partner. We deliver industry-leading offensive and defensive cybersecurity alongside full-stack IT services that are integrated by design — protecting, powering, and accelerating our clients' success.

Our teams operate at the intersection of security and technology, combining deep technical expertise with a holistic, client-centered approach. By aligning security strategy, infrastructure, and operational excellence, we help organizations stay resilient in an increasingly complex threat landscape.

At RedHelm, we are building an environment where innovation, accountability, and collaboration drive meaningful outcomes, both for our clients and for the professionals who support them.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate has previous experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Pre-Sales Engineer within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or technology consulting environment. This individual has a proven track record of partnering with Account Executives to conduct technical discovery, scope infrastructure and security solutions, and guide customers through complex technology decisions. This is not a post-sales implementation role. The Solutions Engineer partners directly with Account Executives to design and position technical solutions throughout the sales process and acts as a trusted advisor to prospective customers.

Role Focus

  • Primary Objective: Design and support successful customer infrastructure and security solutions while driving technical alignment throughout the sales cycle
  • Approach: Consultative, technical, customer-focused, and solution-oriented engagement
  • Core Skills: Solution architecture, technical discovery, customer relationship management, and proposal development
  • Solution Profile: Managed IT infrastructure, managed security services, Microsoft Azure Public Cloud, Microsoft 365, networking, server, endpoint, and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Success Metrics: Solution win rates, customer satisfaction, account growth, technical alignment, and proposal delivery accuracy
  • Challenges: Managing diverse customer environments, translating technical complexity into business value, and balancing multiple opportunities simultaneously

Main Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Executives to support both new logo acquisition and existing account growth through technical solution consulting.
  • Lead technical scoping sessions and develop solution architectures for Microsoft Azure (required), Microsoft 365, networking, and managed security services.
  • Present technical recommendations and solution demonstrations to executive and technical audiences.
  • Support account management activities by identifying technology refresh, optimization, and expansion opportunities within existing customer environments.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to both prospective and existing customers by building strong professional relationships
  • Review customer environments to identify areas for technology refreshes, optimization, expansion, or additional support
  • Educate customers on technology standards, operational risks, and alignment between business goals and technical strategy
  • Support customer business reviews by combining operational and technical insights from internal delivery teams
  • Drive adoption of RedHelm services through strategic technical guidance and upsell identification
  • Maintain expertise across RedHelm services and third-party partner technologies to support customer recommendations
  • Translate technical concepts and requirements into clear, business-focused recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, operations, and leadership teams to support customer success and solution delivery
  • Ensure customer data and information are handled securely and in accordance with all RedHelm Information Security Policies
  • Maintain accurate documentation, customer records, opportunity updates, and technical information within CRM platforms
  • Will require occasional travel for business purposes

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of experience designing, deploying, and/or supporting IT infrastructure and/or IT security environments
  • 2+ years of experience in a pre-sales engineering or solutions engineering role within managed IT services, infrastructure, or cybersecurity
  • 2+ years of experience supporting customer account management or customer-facing technical engagements

  • Strong solution architecture, discovery, requirements gathering, and proposal development capabilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders and executive audiences
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
