Job Duties

For more than three decades, the Virginia Lottery has worked to build a strong reputation, one synonymous with providing fun, entertaining experiences and doing so responsibly and with integrity. Proceeds from traditional Lottery games support K-12 public education in Virginia. Taxes generated by sports wagering and casino gaming, which are regulated by the Lottery, benefit other priorities of the Commonwealth.
The Virginia Lottery is currently seeking a Graphic Designer to join our Marketing Department.
The Graphic Designer will serve as a key creative resource for the Lottery's visual communication needs across digital, print and retail channels. This role is responsible for developing compelling, effective, and brand-consistent creative assets that support advertising, marketing, sales, and organizational initiatives. The Graphic Designer will create a wide range of materials, including digital advertising assets, retail point-of-sale (POS) displays, signage, printed brochures, promotional materials, presentations, corporate communications, and other branded collateral. The position requires the ability to manage high-volume production workloads while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and meeting aggressive deadlines.

This role requires extensive knowledge of design principles, production processes, and current industry trends across both digital and print media. The Graphic Designer must be skilled in creating visually engaging content optimized for a variety of platforms, including websites, email marketing, social media, retail environments, print publications, and corporate communications.

The ideal candidate will possess advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications. Strong skills in typography, layout design, branding, and print production processes. Success in this role requires developing cohesive, high-quality creative that strengthens the brand across all channels.
Note - This position requires in-office work three days per week including Tuesday and Wednesday.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
Minimum of 2- 4 years of professional graphic design experience in a corporate, agency, or marketing environment, including experience developing digital marketing assets, retail point-of-sale materials, brochures, presentations, and other branded communications.
Graphic Design Expertise - Advanced knowledge of design principles, including typography, layout, color theory, branding, and visual storytelling.
Adobe Creative Cloud Proficiency - Advanced skills in Illustrator, and Photoshop, to create professional marketing and communication materials. HTML5 Capabilities are a plus.
Multi-Channel Asset Development - Ability to design and adapt creative assets for digital, print, retail point-of-sale, social media, email, web, and corporate communications.
Print & Production Knowledge - Understanding of print specifications, file preparation, production processes, CMYK, and vendor requirements to ensure quality execution.
Has professional experience working within established brand standards and style guidelines for licensed properties and trademarked brands.
Project & Time Management - Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Collaboration & Communication - Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
Design and deliver high-quality, brand-consistent creative assets that effectively support Lottery marketing, sales, retailer, and corporate communication objectives.
Develop and execute integrated creative assets across digital, print, and retail channels, ensuring consistency and optimization for each platform.
Maintain production excellence through attention to detail, file organization, and proper asset management, ensuring all artwork meets quality standards, technical specifications, and archival requirements.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
