Salaried Reverse Engineering information

What engineers make $500,000 a year?

Salaried reverse engineers, especially those with extensive experience, specialized skills in malware analysis, cryptography, or security research, can reach annual compensation of $500,000 or more. High earnings are often associated with senior roles in cybersecurity firms, tech companies, or consulting, and may include bonuses, stock options, or profit sharing. Advanced certifications and a strong track record in complex reverse engineering projects are typically required for such compensation levels.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Salaried reverse engineers, especially those with extensive experience, specialized skills in malware analysis, cryptography, or hardware security, and advanced certifications can earn $300,000 or more annually. High compensation often depends on the complexity of projects, industry, and location, with roles in cybersecurity firms, tech companies, or government agencies typically offering higher salaries.

What engineers make $200,000 a year?

Salaried reverse engineers, especially those with extensive experience, specialized skills in malware analysis, cryptography, or hardware security, can earn $200,000 or more annually. High compensation often correlates with expertise in advanced reverse engineering tools, certifications, and working in high-demand industries such as cybersecurity or defense. Salary levels vary based on location, company size, and individual skill set.

What is the difference between Salaried Reverse Engineering vs Software Developer?

AspectSalaried Reverse EngineeringSoftware Developer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Computer Science or related field, sometimes certifications in cybersecurity or reverse engineering toolsBachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
Work EnvironmentSecurity-focused labs, corporate R&D, or cybersecurity firmsOffice settings, tech companies, startups, or remote
Employer & Industry UsageCybersecurity, software security, malware analysisTechnology, finance, healthcare, app development

While both roles require strong programming skills and technical knowledge, Salaried Reverse Engineers focus on analyzing and dissecting software to identify vulnerabilities or understand malicious code, often within cybersecurity contexts. Software Developers design, build, and maintain software applications. The roles differ mainly in their objectives: reverse engineering emphasizes analysis and security, whereas development emphasizes creation and implementation.

Can you make $500,000 as a civil engineer?

Salaried reverse engineering professionals typically do not earn $500,000 annually, as this is a high income level usually associated with executive or specialized roles. Civil engineers generally have lower average salaries, though those in senior positions, consulting, or with advanced certifications can reach higher income levels, but $500,000 is uncommon for most civil engineering roles.

Job description

Salary:

ReLogic Research, Inc. is seeking a self-starting and highly-motivated individual to join our team! ReLogics central focus is to continually promote a culture that stimulates personal, professional, and intellectual growth, while developing elegant solutions to tough problems. We encourage teammates to be self-governing based on high standards of professionalism and judgement.

What Youll Do

This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong design component. Youll operate and apply advanced 3D scanning systems, produce high-quality CAD models from scan data, and support mechanical design projects from concept through fabrication. Day-to-day work spans digital measurement, reverse engineering, and design of tooling and hardware with direct impact on customer deliverables.

3D Scanning & Optical Metrology

  • Operate structured-light, laser, and photogrammetry scanners (Smarttech3D, ATOS, Hexagon, Leica) to capture detailed 3D geometry of components and assemblies
  • Perform Digital Image Correlation (DIC) data capture on hardware and material tests
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using Control X and GOM Inspect, applying GD&T best practices to verify part conformance

CAD Modeling & Reverse Engineering

  • Build parametric and surface 3D models in Geomagic Design X and Geomagic Wrap, working from scan data to reconstruct design intent or meet customer specifications
  • Produce engineering drawings and system schematics from scan-derived models
  • Collaborate with the design team to validate and refine models for downstream manufacturing use

Mechanical Design & Fabrication Support

  • Design tooling, fixtures, prototype hardware, and system assemblies from sketch through CAD to fabricated part
  • Perform analyses to support and substantiate design approaches
  • Develop and optimize inspection and scanning workflows tailored to customer hardware and requirements

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 25+ years of experience in mechanical design, metrology, quality inspection, or 3D scanning applications
  • Background in aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or industrial equipment is a strong plus

Technical Skills Core

  • Hands-on experience with 3D scanning technology (structured light, laser scanning, or photogrammetry)
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred; CATIA, NX, or similar also considered)
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and ability to read and create engineering drawings
  • Experience with metrology or inspection software (Geomagic, PolyWorks, or similar)

Technical Skills Nice to Have

  • Experience with reverse engineering workflows and scan-to-CAD processes
  • Familiarity with automation or robotic scanning systems
  • Basic programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, or similar) for workflow automation

Communication & Collaboration

  • Self-starter who can manage projects independently and communicate progress clearly
  • Comfortable working with customers on-site to understand requirements and demonstrate solutions
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to solve tough problems
  • Willingness to travel approximately 2550% for on-site support, demos, and customer engagement

Why ReLogic

  • Work on a wide variety of hardware no two projects look the same
  • Use industry-leading scanning and metrology equipment from day one
  • A culture that values engineering, technical leadership, personal judgement, and autonomy
  • Full benefits, competitive salary, and a collaborative team enviroment that takes the work seriously

In addition to completing the application in BambooHR, please send a brief note about your interest, and any portfolio or previous projects highlighting your capability to hr@relogicresearch.com.

This is a full-time salaried position with full benefits offered. Approximately 2550% of travel is expected.
