Job description

This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Programs (N922) Branch; Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Fleet and Family Readiness Support Services (N94); Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH), Honolulu, HI. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties in support of the MWR recreation program. The incumbent provides instruction on boating safety, sailing and windsurfing.Qualifications:Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs.
A qualified candidate must possess:
  • Applicant must demonstrate proficiency in sailing and windsurfing.
  • Applicant must have knowledge of navigational aids, water safety, lifesaving and first aid principles and practices.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and show ability to instruct.
  • Must know the rules of the Harbor and provide information to customers/students.
  • Must be able to work mainly outdoors with exposure to all environmental and weather conditions but not limited to wind, rain, storms, high waves, and unusual ocean conditions.
*** Must be willing to work weekend, nights and holidays***Physical Demands:
  • Long periods of sitting and standing may be required.
  • Pushing/pulling and manual labor required.
