Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Project Safety Specialist to develop, implement, and manage robust safety programs for our battery storage deployment projects. This role reports into our Project Engineering team, which is part of the Commercial Operations organization. You will ensure site-specific safety compliance, lead training, and manage emergency response protocols in collaboration/partnership with project execution teams, field operations, internal EHS and customer environmental compliance teams. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!
Relocation assistance is available.

  • Develop, execute, and oversee the comprehensive Site Safety and Health Plans (SSHP) and site-specific Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for utility-scale BESS projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, and all federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Serve as the primary safety authority throughout all project phases (planning, construction, energization, commissioning), providing site-specific orientations, conducting safety audits, and supporting safety discussions with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

  • Lead and administer field safety training for field staff and contractors, emphasizing electrical safety (e.g. NFPA 70E), chemical handling, and product-specific hazard mitigation.

  • Manage site-specific environmental compliance programs, including registrations, tracking, disposal, and reporting of hazardous waste.

  • Define and manage the PPE program, including strategy, procurement, inventory, and preparation for all weather field operations.

  • Lead all investigations for field incidents or near-misses, determining root causes, manage incident response, and implement corrective actions across the entire project fleet.

What you'll bring:
  • 8+ years of occupational health and field safety experience, with a focus on construction, utility-scale projects, or field deployment environments

  • Proven experience managing hazardous waste programs, navigating state-specific environmental compliance, developing emergency response plans

  • Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence safety culture, manage diverse field teams and contractors, and strategically communicate complex technical hazards to non-technical stakeholders

  • OSHA 30-hour certification; professional certifications such as CSP, CHST, or CHMM are a strong plus.
