Job description

Summary:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the hotel and providing customers with quality service in a timely and friendly manner. Responsibilities vary but may include: routine cleaning of the public areas of the hotel, daily cleaning of guestrooms, weekly or monthly deep cleaning of assigned areas, restocking housekeeping stations, assistance with washing, drying, and folding of linen and terry, and delivering service items to guest rooms upon requests from the front desk.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities; other duties may be assigned as required.

  • Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as making beds, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing in hotel guestrooms and/or public areas.
  • Clean entire bathroom area according to established procedures in hotel guestrooms and/or public areas.
  • Ensure all rooms are cleaned and stocked according to standards.
  • Protect equipment and make certain there are no inadequacies.
  • Be attentive to all guests' needs.
  • Notify superiors on any repair and maintenance issues, room damages, or other physical deficits.
  • Bring all items found in vacant rooms immediately to the Manager or Supervisor.
  • Report the status of rooms as they are completed to the Manager or Supervisor.
  • Handle reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience.
  • Check stocking levels of all consumables and replace when appropriate.
  • Return equipment and supplies to the proper storage areas.
  • Strictly adhere to rules regarding health and safety including safe handling of cleaning chemicals and knowledge of any company-related safety and security practices.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as needed.

Minimum Required Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent people skills possessing a positive, outgoing, and naturally curious personality.
  • Ability to perform basic duties in an efficient manner.Housekeeper/ Room Attendant
  • Ability to follow all Hotel standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work productively with other employees as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle obstacles in a positive and professional manner and to effectively communicate these problems, along with suggested solutions.

Education/Certifications/Licensure
High School Diploma or GED.
Previous cleaning experience.
Experience in hospitality industry.

Language Skills
Average reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English Language.
