Job Summary:
The Inpatient Section of the Division of Rehabilitation Medicine is seeking a faculty physician to support service expansion with the building and operation of a second joint venture (with UW Health, UnityPoint Health - Meriter and Lifepoint Rehabilitation) free-standing 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital within Dane County, which will bring the overall capacity to 90 inpatient beds between two facilities. Clinical practice focus also includes inpatient PM&R consultation services at UW Health hospitals and UnityPoint Health-Meriter as well as overall additional programmatic growth opportunities within stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and general neurorehabilitation.
This position will include:
  • Providing clinical care as a PM&R physician (inpatient, consultation, outpatient follow-up of inpatient discharge patients)
  • Teaching medical students, residents and fellows (through both formal didactics, as well as within the context of the clinical practice setting)
  • Carrying out independent scholarly activity within area(s) of interest.
  • Participation in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the division, department, School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health.

  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

The division enjoys strong collaborative relationships with faculty in the Department of Pediatrics Division of Developmental Pediatrics & Rehabilitation Medicine. Required Qualifications:
  • WI Medical license by the start date of the position.
  • Board-certified or board eligible through the American Board of Physical Medical and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) by the start date of the position.
  • Completion of a US Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency by the start date of the position.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT track.
