Job description

Job Summary
Coordinates Youth Sports Program at assigned school from September through June in cooperation with MPS Recreation Department Youth Sports Office.
Position Summary
  • ADMINISTRATION
    • Serve as a liaison between the Youth Sport Office, your school, and league play sites.
    • Attend all scheduled Sports Coordination Meetings.
    • Read and understand the Youth Sports Opportunities Handbook.
    • Promote and develop school teams each season for 1 st ¿ 8 th grade students.
    • Make sure that first aid supplies are available to all teams during practices and games.
    • Register teams online at mkerec.net by the deadline.
    • Submit entry fee payments to Youth Sports Office by the deadline.
    • Allocate and schedule practice space for all participate as equitable as possible.
    • Monitor equipment needs in conjunction with school administration and recommend repair or replacements as needed.
    • Notify the Youth Sports Office in advance of all forfeited contest.
  • PARTICIPATION/ATHLETE
    • Collect and retain all Athlete Participation Forms.
    • Check player athletic eligibility.
    • Submit team roster to the Youth Sports Office at least 1 week in advance of first scheduled game.
    • Make sure each player has a jersey or t-shirt in school colors.
    • Facilitate parent/player meetings prior to the start of each season.
    • Coordinate student transportation needs.
    • Notify all players and parents of `Return to Play¿ procedures for suspected concussion injuries.
  • COACHES
    • Recruit one (1) coach for each team.
    • Ensure that a coach or team representative attends Mandatory Coaches Meetings.
    • Ensure that all coaches have submitted their required hiring paperwork at least 2 weeks in advance of league start date. COACHES ARE NOT PERMITTED TO START WORKING UNTIL THEY HAVE RECEIVED APPROVAL FROM THE YOUTH SPORTS OFFICE.
    • Submit time cards to the Youth Sports Office in accordance with the Youth Sports Time Card Schedule. TIME CARDS/PAYSHEETS NOT SUBMITTED ON TIME WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.

Supervision Required
Works under the direction of the School Principal and the Youth Sports Supervisor.
