What is Rust development?

Rust development refers to the process of building software applications using the Rust programming language. Rust is known for its focus on safety, performance, and concurrency, making it ideal for creating reliable and efficient systems, such as web servers, command-line tools, and embedded devices. Developers use Rust to write code that minimizes common programming errors like null pointer dereferencing and data races, thanks to its strict compiler checks and ownership model. The Rust ecosystem includes a rich package manager (Cargo) and a supportive community, making it accessible for both beginners and experienced developers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Rust developer?

To thrive as a Rust Developer, you need strong programming fundamentals, proficiency in Rust, and a solid understanding of systems programming concepts, often supported by a computer science degree or relevant experience. Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), build tools like Cargo, and knowledge of concurrent and asynchronous programming are typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and collaborative communication skills help developers stand out in complex project environments. These skills ensure the creation of safe, efficient, and reliable software, leveraging Rust's unique strengths for high-performance applications.

What are common challenges Rust developers face when working on large-scale projects, and how can they overcome them?

Rust developers working on large-scale projects often encounter challenges related to managing complex codebases and ensuring efficient collaboration with teammates. The strict ownership and borrowing rules in Rust can initially slow development, especially when integrating with legacy systems or external libraries. To overcome these hurdles, teams typically adopt clear coding standards, make use of Rust's robust module system for code organization, and leverage tools like cargo workspaces for dependency management. Regular code reviews and open communication also help maintain code quality and prevent integration issues.

How to become a Rust developer?

To become a Rust developer, you should learn the Rust programming language through official tutorials and documentation, gain experience with systems programming, and practice building projects. Familiarity with tools like Cargo and understanding of memory safety concepts are also important. Earning certifications or contributing to open-source Rust projects can further enhance your skills and employability.

What does a Rust developer do?

A Rust developer writes and maintains software using the Rust programming language, focusing on performance, safety, and concurrency. They often work on system-level applications, embedded systems, or performance-critical software, utilizing tools like Cargo and adhering to best coding practices. Strong knowledge of systems programming and debugging skills are essential for this role.

Job description

TL;DR: We're hiring a Product Partnership Engineer to build and scale Lovable's most strategic product partnerships. You'll work directly with enterprise partners to design and ship high-impact integrations, reading their stack, prototyping solutions yourself, and shaping both our roadmap and theirs. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and enterprise relationships, and will directly accelerate Lovable's ecosystem growth and enterprise adoption.

Why Lovable?

Lovable lets anyone and everyone build software with any language. From solopreneurs to Fortune 100 teams, millions of people use Lovable to transform raw ideas into real products - fast. We are at the forefront of a foundational shift in software creation, which means you have an unprecedented opportunity to change the way the digital world works. Over 2 million people in 200+ countries already use Lovable to launch businesses, automate work, and bring their ideas to life. And we're just getting started.

We're a small, talent-dense team building a generation-defining company from Stockholm. We value extreme ownership, high velocity, and low-ego collaboration. We seek out people who care deeply, ship fast, and are eager to make a dent in the world.

What we're looking for
  • 5+ years in Partner Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or as a technical founder/CTO - in high-velocity environments.

    • Fluent in modern frontend (React/TypeScript) and/or backend (Golang, Rust) development.

  • Track record of structuring and executing product-centric partnerships that involve real technical depth.
  • Genuinely technical; comfortable reading technical documentation, understanding cloud architectures, and forming independent views on integration feasibility.
  • Strong enterprise and commercial instincts: comfortable navigating senior stakeholders in negotiating, building relationships and managing complex deals while maintaining technical credibility.
  • High agency and bias for action; you prototype first and refine later than waiting for full specs.
What you'll do
  • Own and deepen relationships with Lovable's most strategic product and enterprise partners โ€” driving urgency, alignment, and executive-level momentum.

  • Independently assess partner architectures, APIs, and other integration points to identify high-impact integration opportunities, validate feasibility, and proactively surface risks or blockers.

  • Prototype and spike early integrations yourself to shape requirements, accelerate decision-making, and reduce engineering lift.

  • Scope and, where appropriate, ship production-ready integrations that deliver measurable value to Lovable users and our partners.

  • Develop compelling business cases for integrations that clearly demonstrate long-term value creation for partners, Lovable, and end customers with a strong focus on measurable impact.

  • Feed technical and market insights back into Lovable's product organization, while collaborating cross-functionally (Engineering, Product, Marketing, Growth) and leading workshops to drive alignment and successful go-to-market execution.
