Job Description:

We are seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to join our Rapid Prototyping Group (RPG) and help turn innovative ideas into working capabilities at speed. In this role, you will design, build, test, and refine quick-turn software prototypes that support proof-of-concept efforts, emerging technology evaluations, customer demonstrations, and early product development. You'll work alongside a collaborative & multi-disciplinary team of engineers to solve complex problems, adapt to evolving requirements, and deliver impactful solutions in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, versatile developer who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys experimenting with new technologies, and is motivated by seeing ideas move rapidly from concept to capability. Essential Functions:

  • Rapidly translate emerging concepts, customer needs, and experimental objectives into functional software prototypes and demonstration capabilities for advanced military communications systems.
  • Design, develop, integrate, test, and debug software for embedded and Linux-based prototype systems using C++ and C in real-time, multi-threaded, and multi-core environments.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, integration, test, and technical demonstrations of complex software and system-level capabilities in a rapid prototyping environment.
  • Use emulators, debuggers, and related development tools to troubleshoot software behavior, isolate root causes, and resolve integration issues across software and hardware interfaces.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, RF, mechanical, field testing, and systems engineering teams to evaluate interfaces, operational requirements, and technical constraints and mature concepts into working capabilities.
  • Communicate technical progress, issues, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to team members, leadership, and end users while operating with general supervision and exercising sound engineering judgment in a fast-paced development environment.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of embedded SW engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Broad technical knowledge across adjacent disciplines, including hardware architectures, digital design concepts, electrical interfaces, and system integration for embedded and communications prototypes.
  • Working knowledge of rapid prototyping processes, including iterative development, risk reduction, fast-turn integration, and engineering tradeoffs between speed, performance, and technical rigor.
  • Experience applying AI/ML tools and techniques across the development lifecycle, including prototype capability enhancement, and model development and training.
  • Familiarity with L3Harris radio products, tactical communications systems, and related waveforms, interfaces, and operational applications.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and troubleshooting, including familiarity with 5G technologies, device configuration, and integration in communications environments.
  • Other relevant experience may include - Python, VHDL, Rust, Linux kernel, microcontrollers, and low-level communication interfaces.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York is $84,500 to $157,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
