Job description

Lynntech is seeking a Research Engineer to develop and evaluate technologies for a variety of aerospace and defense applications. This hands-on R&D role combines computational analysis, experimental testing, rapid prototyping, and hardware/software integration. Candidates with experience in controls, embedded systems, flight mechanics, or related areas are especially encouraged to apply. The position is full-time and on-site in College Station, Texas.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Developing computational analyses, simulations, and data-processing workflows
  • Assisting in the design and execution of laboratory and field experiments
  • Designing and implementing data-acquisition approaches using imaging, acoustic, RF, and other electronic sensors
  • Analyzing experimental data and translating results into engineering conclusions and recommendations
  • Maintaining a laboratory notebook as a detailed log of experiments, results, and ongoing research efforts
  • Generating formal written reports of research efforts
  • Contributing to proposal development
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, physics, applied mathematics, or a related field
  • Ability to design and carry out experiments with limited supervision
  • Data management and technical reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to interact with scientists and researchers from other disciplines
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts, results, and recommendations in written reports and presentations
Desired Experience:
  • Aerodynamics, flight mechanics, and stability analysis
  • State estimation, sensor fusion, and controls
  • Embedded system development using microcontrollers, SBCs, FPGAs, or similar hardware
  • Research, product development, or rapid-prototyping experience through industry, academic research, internships, or substantial project work
  • Programming experience in Python, Rust, C/C++, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW
  • Linux system administration / configuration
  • Prototype hardware fabrication and testing
