Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services, in partnership with Indian Health Services (IHS), is seeking a dedicated physician for a long-term contract assignment at the Tsaile Health Center in Tsaile, Arizona. This is more than a contract-it is a chance to serve an underserved community while enjoying competitive compensation, a consistent schedule, and a supportive clinical environment.
Start Date: June/July
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Full-Time Hours
Setting: Outpatient Family Practice Clinic
Contract Type: 1099 Government Contractor (Locum)
Duration: Up to 1 year with extension options

Position Overview
The Family Practice Physician will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals and families across the lifespan, with a focus on improving health outcomes in the American Indian and Alaska Native population.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages
  • Conduct patient evaluations, physical exams, and medical histories
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with IHS formulary guidelines
  • Provide patient education on disease prevention and health maintenance
  • Coordinate referrals using the Patient Referred Care (PRC) process
  • Collaborate with clinical staff on quality improvement initiatives
  • Follow all IHS infection control and safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR system
  • Uphold patient rights, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity

Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Urgent Care
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Current DEA registration
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • ACLS and PALS preferred
  • Experience with Indian Health Services (IHS) or tribal healthcare systems preferred
  • Experience working in rural or underserved settings preferred
  • Must be a U.S. citizen residing primarily in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a federal background/security clearance
  • Proof of education (diploma or transcripts required)
