Job description

Position Type: Seasonal, part-time (fall season)
Reports To: Head Varsity Girls Golf Coach / Athletic Director
Location: Olathe, KS
About Heritage Christian Academy
Heritage Christian Academy is a PreK-12 Christian school and a ministry of Redeemer Presbyterian Church. We seek to develop students academically, athletically, and spiritually, and our athletics program is an extension of that mission. Coaches at HCA are expected to be positive Christian role models who disciple student-athletes through the sport.
Position Summary
The Assistant Coach for Varsity Girls Golf supports the head coach in all aspects of the program, including instruction, practice, match-day management, and the spiritual and personal development of our student-athletes. This is a great fit for someone with golf experience and a heart for investing in young women.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the head coach in planning and running practices, including skills instruction (full swing, short game, putting, course management) and conditioning
  • Provide individual coaching and encouragement to players of varying skill levels
  • Support team supervision and logistics at practices, matches, and tournaments
  • Help foster a team culture grounded in Christian character, sportsmanship, and integrity
  • Communicate appropriately with players, parents, and school staff under the head coach's direction
  • Assist with equipment, scheduling, transportation coordination, and other game-day duties as needed
  • Uphold all HCA, league, and state athletic association rules and standards

Time Commitment
Seasonal position covering the girls golf season, including weekday practices and scheduled matches/tournaments.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the game of golf and the ability to teach fundamentals; playing or coaching experience preferred
  • A personal faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with HCA's mission and statement of faith
  • Strong character, reliability, and the ability to model Christ-like leadership for student-athletes
  • Effective communication and the ability to work collaboratively with the head coach and athletic staff
  • Must pass a background check and complete any required coaching certifications (e.g., concentration/concussion training, league requirements)
  • Prior experience coaching or mentoring youth preferred
