Job Description: Oxford College of Emory University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Assistant College Coach to join both our Men’s and Women’s Golf team. This role involves supporting the head coach in fostering a positive, competitive environment while ensuring the health and safety of athletes. The ideal candidate will have prior coaching experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for student-athlete development. The assistant coach assists the head coach in running a successful varsity program which competes as a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III program and as a member of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA). This mainly includes help recruiting student-athletes, practice and competition coaching, design and implementation of competitive strategies and advising and mentoring our student-athletes. The assistant must understand and promote the mission, goals, values and educational ideals of Oxford College of Emory University.

Key Responsibilities:

· Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of athletes on and off the field.

· Foster a community of healthy competition and sportsmanship among athletes.

· Plan and implement effective and engaging practice sessions.

· Assist with team management and logistics.

· Maintain open communication with athletes, coaches, and staff.

Requirements:

· Must be experienced in playing/coaching golf.

· Ability to pass a driving and criminal background check.

· Availability between 2:30pm-6pm (flexible) primarily Tuesday’s and Thursday in addition to some Monday’s and Wednesday’s.

· Availability during some weekends for travel. August through April and possibly needed beginning of June for Nationals (TBD).

· Availability during pre-season in August-November and during In-Season January-April.

· Strong organizational and communication skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of student-athletes and professional staff.

Additional Information:

Many of our tournaments will take place across states like Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky. We additionally have our NJCAA National Championship that takes place in Chautauqua, New York. The assistant coach may or may not be required to travel to New York. If they are needed, accommodations are in place per the college for travel purposes which is taken care of by the Head Coach. Our students are primarily academic focused. Although many are here to compete, we also recognize the importance of our student’s time in the classroom. Practice schedules may vary due to this. The head coach will develop a schedule around the students and keep the assistant coach up to date on practice schedules. There also may be times where you will be encouraged to play alongside the student-athletes during practice days. It is important to note maintaining good communication between head and assistant coach. Days you are unavailable need to be noted prior to hire or prior to travel days. We understand this is a part-time and flexible position but want to ensure you are present and able to fulfill the job requirements and duties.

This is a part-time position with flexible hours outside of practice and game schedules. If you are passionate about coaching and ready to contribute to a dynamic athletic program, we encourage you to apply.
