Job description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The General Shop Support & Parts Runner provides day-to-day support to manufacturing operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment, performing general light maintenance activities, and moving parts, materials, tools, and supplies between work areas. This position supports production efficiency by ensuring employees have the materials and basic shop support needed to perform their work without unnecessary delays.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Transport parts, materials, tooling, supplies, and documentation between receiving, stockroom, manufacturing, quality, shipping, and other work areas.
  • Pick up and deliver parts to designated internal locations as requested.
  • Support staging and movement of material for production and assembly operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and general organization of shop, production, storage, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, empty trash, and perform routine housekeeping activities.
  • Maintain aisles, work areas, entrances, and material storage locations in a clean and safe condition.
  • Perform basic/light facility and shop maintenance such as replacing filters, changing light bulbs, assembling shelving, minor repairs, and other routine maintenance tasks within training and authorization.
  • Identify facility, equipment, safety, or maintenance concerns and report them to management.
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, organizing, labeling, and putting away incoming materials and supplies.
  • Assist with movement and organization of scrap, packaging materials, pallets, containers, and recycling.
  • Support basic inventory organization and 5S/workplace organization activities.
  • Maintain shop supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need replenishment.
  • Assist Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Shipping & Receiving, and other departments with general shop support activities as needed.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, FOD, ESD, security, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Perform other general support duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • None

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, maintenance, or shop environment preferred but not required.
  • Dependable and able to maintain a consistent Monday-Friday work schedule.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on work.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and workplace safety.
  • Ability to work independently and respond to changing daily priorities.
  • Valid driver's license preferred if the position requires transportation of parts between company locations or suppliers.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly bend, reach, push, pull, and perform general physical work.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to approximately 40-50 pounds.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and material-handling equipment after appropriate training.

Work Schedule

  • This position is intended to provide consistent shop support five days per week, Monday through Friday, on a half-day schedule of approximately four hours per day (20 hours per week).
  • The specific daily shift may be established based on operational needs, with a consistent morning or afternoon schedule preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • 0-25% as required to support customer engagements, test activities, or other Kratos locations
