What is a rum job?

Rum jobs generally refer to positions within the rum industry, which can include roles such as distillers, quality control technicians, brand ambassadors, sales representatives, and bartenders specializing in rum. These professionals are involved in various stages of rum production, marketing, and distribution. Job duties can range from overseeing fermentation and aging processes to promoting rum brands and ensuring product quality. Working in rum-related roles often requires knowledge of spirits, customer service skills, and sometimes formal training in hospitality or food science.

What are some key challenges involved in working as a rum distiller, and how can new hires prepare for them?

A key challenge for rum distillers is maintaining consistency and quality across batches, as variables like fermentation, aging, and environmental conditions can affect the final product. New hires should be prepared to closely follow detailed processes, monitor equipment, and keep meticulous records. Additionally, teamwork is essential, as distillers often collaborate with quality control, bottling, and marketing teams. Gaining hands-on experience and staying updated with industry trends can also help overcome these challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a rum distiller, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Rum Distiller, you need a solid understanding of fermentation, distillation processes, and quality control, often supported by a background in chemistry, food science, or related experience in beverage production. Familiarity with distillation equipment, fermentation tanks, and quality assurance systems is typically required, and certifications like HACCP can be advantageous. Attention to detail, creativity, and strong problem-solving skills help distillers consistently produce high-quality rum and innovate new flavors. These skills and qualities are critical for ensuring product consistency, regulatory compliance, and the overall success of a distillery.

What is the difference between Rum vs Bartender?

AspectRumBartender
Primary RoleProduces and manages rum production, quality control, and distributionPrepares and serves drinks, including cocktails with rum
Required SkillsKnowledge of fermentation, distillation, and beverage productionMixology, customer service, and drink presentation
Work EnvironmentFactories, distilleries, production facilitiesBars, restaurants, events
CertificationsFood safety, distillation licenses (if applicable)Bartending license or certification often preferred

While both roles involve rum, Rum professionals focus on production and quality control of the spirit, working mainly in manufacturing settings. Bartenders, on the other hand, prepare and serve rum-based drinks in customer-facing environments. The two roles require different skill sets but are connected through the use of rum in their work.

About RUM Group Inc.

RUM Group Inc. is an AI infrastructure and video company. Its Quake AI business delivers AI compute as a service, operating AI data centers including GPU and CPU compute, storage, and networking at scale. Rumble, RUM Group\'s video business and the original tenant of Quake AI, provides creators and enterprises a full suite of video technologies, unlocking reach, scale, and monetization. RUM Group is building the rails of the agentic-first enterprise: the AI compute, cloud infrastructure, and trust layer for the agentic AI future, advancing RUM Group\'s mission to maximize the power of human imagination. For more information visit www.rum.group.

RUM Group Inc. is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to provide broad legal leadership across litigation, regulatory matters, compliance, employment issues, policy development, and day-to-day business counseling. This is a senior legal leadership role for an attorney who can serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and business stakeholders while helping oversee the legal function across a company anchored in cloud and data center infrastructure through its Quake AI business, alongside its Rumble video platform. The Deputy General Counsel will work closely with the General Counsel and serve as a key legal leader capable of stepping in on behalf of the General Counsel when needed.

This role requires a practical, business-minded legal leader who can assess risk clearly, guide complex matters efficiently, and support a fast-moving organization with a broad range of legal and regulatory needs. You should be comfortable advising teams across Product, Finance, Human Resources, Sales, Procurement, Operations, and Technology, while helping the business navigate litigation, investigations, compliance, and policy issues that come with operating scaled cloud, AI, and data center infrastructure as well as a large-scale video platform. The Deputy General Counsel will also coordinate closely with legal experts and outside counsel in multiple jurisdictions, supporting international regulatory approvals, data center operations, and cross-border transactions arising from RUM Groupโ€™s global infrastructure footprint. Success in this role requires sound legal judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience from a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both, with a strong background in litigation, compliance, and strategic counseling. This person will help strengthen the legal function as RUM Group continues to grow in cloud and AI infrastructure and video, supporting legal operations, outside counsel management, risk mitigation, and scalable processes across evolving business priorities. The right candidate will be comfortable operating as both a senior legal advisor and a hands-on leader who can move fluidly between high-level strategy and day-to-day execution.

Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted legal advisor to the General Counsel, executive leadership, and business stakeholders on a broad range of legal, regulatory, litigation, employment, compliance, and commercial matters. Lead and manage litigation, claims, disputes, and pre-litigation matters, including legal strategy, outside counsel oversight, discovery coordination, motion practice support, and settlement recommendations. Conduct and oversee internal investigations and responses to subpoenas, audits, regulatory inquiries, and government requests. Design, implement, and monitor legal and compliance policies, controls, and training programs across relevant areas of the business. Provide practical day-to-day legal advice to teams across Finance, Human Resources, Sales, Procurement, Product, Information Technology, Operations, and other business functions as needed. Monitor legal and regulatory developments and recommend policy, process, and operational changes to reduce risk and support compliant growth.

Coordinate with legal experts and outside counsel in multiple countries on matters related to international regulatory approvals, data center development and operations, cloud and AI infrastructure, and cross-border commercial arrangements, including issues arising from the Northern Data/Quake AI data center portfolio. Help lead legal department operations, including outside counsel management, budgeting, prioritization, and process improvements that support a scalable and effective legal function across RUM Groupโ€™s business lines, including Quake AI and the Rumble video platform.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 15+ years of legal experience, including meaningful experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both, with a strong background in litigation, compliance, and legal counseling.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex commercial disputes, claims, investigations, and litigation strategy.
  • Working knowledge of corporate governance, legal compliance frameworks, internal controls, and enterprise risk management practices applicable to a growing corporate legal department.
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to deliver clear, practical legal advice in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively across functions and seniority levels.
  • Experience overseeing internal investigations, regulatory responses, or government inquiries.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage sensitive matters with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing legal staff, paralegals, contract professionals, or outside counsel relationships.
  • Experience helping lead or scale legal department operations, including budgeting, workflow improvements, and outside counsel management.
  • Employment law experience or familiarity advising on workplace-related legal matters.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership on high-risk, high-visibility, or enterprise-wide legal issues.
  • Experience advising businesses in cloud computing, data center infrastructure, AI/HPC, or video platforms and advertising, or similarly regulated and fast-evolving industries, including coordination with international counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
