We are seeking a skilled Polymer Manufacturing Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for operating and performing technical troubleshooting for fabric converting, preform winding, and compression molding equipment to produce highly engineering rubber-fabric products for extreme applications. The ideal candidate takes pride in owning defect-free production by continuous attention to performance of the machines he/she operates and maintains. Requirements
Role & Responsibilities:
- Read and follow technical engineering specifications and work orders to ensure accurate production
- Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain equipment including fabric cutting, seaming, preform winding, compression molding, and trimming/marking machines
- Continuously observe machine behavior; find and correct changes in noise, temperature, smoothness, etc.; for advanced troubleshooting, precisely report detailed symptoms to Engineering and follow advanced troubleshooting instructions
- Perform in-process quality control using calipers, Pi tape, and visual inspection; identify defects and independently respond by adjusting machine parameters to continuously meet product specifications
- Operate an assigned station and float across stations during the same shift to share knowledge guidance to non-technician machine operators
- Develop and qualify new processes and products against first-draft Engineering specifications
- Maintain accurate production logs of output, downtime, and material usage
- Suggest process improvements for greater consistency, higher quality, faster output, or lower scrap
- Conduct regular machine calibration and adjustment, basic parts replacement, die & blade change-out; perform routine machine cleaning and maintenance (both autonomous & preventive)
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards
- Follow all plant safety protocols, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training is a plus
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting technical/mechanical of industrial equipment, especially for fabric/textile handling and rubber compression/injection presses
- Able to lift 35+ lbs repeatedly and stand/move throughout an entire shift
- Ready to work overtime or rotating shifts when needed
- Able to read, write, and understand basic English and some technical English
- Able to obtain a Vulcan-provided crane and forklift certification; prior crane/forklift experience is a plus
- Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) or ISO quality systems is a plus
- Prior experience in automotive, industrial, or aerospace mass production manufacturing is a plus
Work Schedule & Travel Requirements:
- Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm
