This position is responsible for designing, managing and maintaining virtualization systems to include security, storage, networking, monitoring and troubleshooting all virtual systems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL:

  • Virtualization Administration Designs and implements VMware-based and other virtualization platform environments and any supporting tools and applications necessary to ensure industry best practices are followed.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert in all deployed virtual environments and technologies and the responsible escalation point for support issues in the enterprise environment.
  • Defines and continuously improves processes and procedures to support a fully managed virtual environment and automates processes whenever possible.
  • Ensures full use and deployment of all beneficial technologies in the virtualization stack, including hyper-converged systems, software defined networking, storage integrations, cloud solutions and management options.

OTHER:

  • All job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design and operational support of VMware vSphere environments using VMware Aria Suite (formerly vRealize) or VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including hands-on administration of host servers, storage (SAN/vSAN) and network security/firewalls (NSX).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience implementing and maintaining Linux and Microsoft server operating systems.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience providing virtualization platform administration and related tools such as NSX, Aria, vRA, vSAN, and vSphere.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience providing advanced scripting.
  • Preferred: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar discipline.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Proficiency in TCP/IP networking and protocols TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DBS, and NTP.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and transfer knowledge as a mentor and technical expert.

Ability to use sound judgment, problem solving/ troubleshooting skills and work well under pressure.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to quickly adapt to new products, technologies and procedural changes.

Ability to support critical systems after hours, nights and weekends as needed.

Ability to conceptualize wide range of enterprise administrative issues.

Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
