Job description

Position Summary

A sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for sleep disorders. The sleep technologist is directly responsible and accountable to the Sleep Medicine Manager and performs standard and complex polysomnographic testing in accordance with laboratory standards and practices. The polysomnographic technologist is also responsible for maintaining regular communication with the Sleep Disorders Center lead technologist.

Responsibilities include in-center and out-of-center sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care, and direct patient education. A sleep technologist performs the duties defined for this role and may provide oversight of other sleep center staff, including Sleep Technician I and II positions. The sleep technologist is credentialed in sleep technology, such as RPSGT, CRT-SDS, RRT-SDS, or an equivalent recognized credential.

Education and/or Experience

Successful completion of a sleep technology program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency for all competencies required of a sleep technologist.

AND

Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds either the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
