Description
The WELL at California State University Sacramento is seeking to hire enthusiastic, motivated, certified and experienced group fitness barre instructors to develop, monitor and deliver group exercise classes of various formats.

Conditions of Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student and non-student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week's notice.
Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check, educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript), or driver clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.

Final schedule will be determined between employee and supervisor.
Additional Work Schedule
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).
Casual employees are limited to no more than 19.5 hours per work week (Sunday - Saturday).
Compensation
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be able to to develop and lead group exercise classes.
  • Must have a firm grasp on the exercise science related field and ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Desire to work in recreation and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Barre instructor certification from a professionally recognized association.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required for this position and must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in fitness, dance, or martial arts related field.
  • RPTA/Kinesiology/Exercise Science Related Field (Major or Minor).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor activities for safety at all times.
  • Lead an effective group exercise, dance or martial arts class by applying sound exercise principles.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and participants.
  • Respond to injuries and emergencies; activate the emergency action plan.
  • Attend pre-semester training and all-staff meetings throughout the semester.
  • Foster professional standards among staff.
  • Be able to address customer service related questions in a positive manner.
  • Enforce policies of The WELL and Campus Recreation.
  • Assist in the promotion of WELL events.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers and scanners with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office, conference space and fitness center environment. Continuous contact with staff. Frequent contact with the campus community and the public.
