Role Overview:
The Network Engineer II plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the organization’s network infrastructure. This position is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of LAN, WAN, and wireless environments. Working closely with cross-functional IT teams, the Network Engineer II troubleshoots network issues, optimizes performance, and helps implement scalable solutions that align with business needs. The role requires balancing technical requirements with operational priorities while maintaining a secure and resilient network environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Network Design & Implementation: Assist in designing, configuring, and deploying LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and VLANs.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance, identify and resolve connectivity, latency, and security issues, and ensure minimal downtime and optimal user experience.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain network security controls (e.g., firewalls, IDS, access controls) and ensure adherence to change management and security policies.
  • Infrastructure Management & Support: Maintain network hardware, communication circuits, and asset inventory, while supporting disaster recovery, backup, and restoration processes.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Partner with IT teams to evaluate new technologies, support capacity planning, document configurations, and provide guidance to junior team members.

Scope:
  • Network Operations & Maintenance: Configure, install, and maintain network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers) to ensure reliable performance.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Diagnose and resolve connectivity, latency, and outage issues, minimizing downtime and preventing recurrence.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor network health and traffic to identify bottlenecks and optimize performance proactively.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and support network security controls, participate in audits, and ensure adherence to security and change management processes.
  • Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain accurate network documentation and work cross-functionally to support integration, projects, and issue resolution.
  • Continuous Improvement & Planning: Support capacity planning, evaluate new technologies, and share knowledge to enhance team capabilities and network efficiency.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer in enterprise or mid-sized environments.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Strong understanding of core networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching).
  • Hardware & Configuration Expertise: Proven ability to configure, manage, and troubleshoot network equipment (e.g., Cisco or similar vendors).
  • Tools & Monitoring: Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Cisco IOS, WLC, ACS, or similar platforms).
  • Certifications: CCNA (Routing & Switching) required.
  • Problem Solving & Communication: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
  • Additional Certifications: CCNA Wireless, CCNA Voice, Network+, or equivalent certifications.
  • Advanced Technologies: Experience with WiFi-6, 5G networking, or modern wireless solutions.
  • Security Knowledge: Familiarity with network security principles and best practices (firewalls, access control, segmentation).

Salary range: $70,000 - $99,200
