Job description

Job Summary

The Commercial Millwork Installer is responsible for the safe, accurate, and professional installation of custom architectural millwork on commercial job sites. This role includes reading shop drawings, coordinating with the field superintendent, project manager and other trades, and installing finished woodwork, casework, wall panels, doors, hardware, and specialty components to meet quality standards and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities

  • Install commercial architectural millwork including:
    • Casework, cabinetry, and countertops
    • Wall paneling, slat walls, feature walls, and trim packages
    • Doors, frames, and architectural hardware (as assigned)
    • Reception desks, banquettes, shelving systems, and built-ins
  • Interpret shop drawings, elevations, and installation details
  • Verify dimensions and site conditions before and during installation
  • Lay out work accurately using lasers, levels, and measuring tools
  • Scribe, fit, and modify components for tight and clean finishes
  • Anchor assemblies to walls, floors, and ceilings per plans and code requirements
  • Maintain high-quality workmanship (plumb, level, square, aligned, clean reveals)
  • Coordinate with jobsite personnel (GC, superintendent, other trades)
  • Protect finished products and maintain clean work areas
  • Identify and report field issues, missing materials, or damage immediately
  • Document progress and punch-list items as required
  • Follow all safety standards, PPE requirements, and jobsite rules
  • Load/unload materials and maintain installation tools and equipment
Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience installing commercial millwork (or comparable finish carpentry)
  • Strong knowledge of millwork installation methods and best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and field dimensions
  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools (saws, routers, drills, nailers, etc.)
  • Skilled in scribing, leveling, shimming, and finish detailing
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a crew
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to job sites
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on feet for extended periods
  • Professional communication and jobsite etiquette
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-end commercial interiors (hospitality, retail, office, medical)
  • Experience installing solid surface / stone / laminate countertops
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience operating lifts (scissor lift, boom lift) and working from ladders
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work performed on active commercial job sites
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting materials
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Use of PPE required (eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, etc.)
