Job purpose

As a Route Relief team member, you play a vital role in supporting our sales team and ensuring smooth, reliable service for our customers. Whether you're stepping in on a sales route or assisting with key service tasks, you help keep our customers stocked and satisfied. From recommending the perfect seasonal release to making sure shelves are fully stocked, you’ll represent our craft beer and wine portfolio with knowledge, passion, and exceptional service keeping the shelves full, the taps flowing, and our customers raising a glass.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure customer loyalty by providing outstanding customer service
  • Build relationships, communicate openly, educate customers, and proactively resolve concerns
  • Learn and be able to support all sales routes and other duties, providing coverage as needed
  • Stock, merchandise, and rotate product on displays and shelves according to industry standards
  • Support and assist Delivery Drivers on major deliveries by unloading products, checking in, and stocking orders
  • Collect payment(s) from the customer at the time of exchange
  • Build displays and assist with store resets as needed
  • Maintain daily activities reports within assigned territory

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Outstanding verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task with minimal errors
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be a team player and work well under minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of safe work practices


PREFERRED

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous sales, merchandising, or pull-up experience
  • Previous food service or beverage distribution experience
  • Intimate knowledge of wine, beer, or the Tryon portfolio
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with material handling equipment (i.e. hand truck, dolly, pallet jack)
  • Previous experience using ERP systems (Encompass preferred)

Working conditions

Work will be performed in the following environments:

  • Warehouse
  • Personal vehicle while in route
  • Customer locations

The noise level in these areas is normally moderate.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to safely lift up to 10 lbs. continually (15 or more loads per hour)
  • Must be able to safely lift between 10 and 60 lbs. occasionally (1-10 loads per hour)
  • Must be able to stand and walk continually (5-8 hours per day), with occasional (1-4 hours per day) driving, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, squatting, and reaching
