Job description

This position is 100% on site at our San Francisco (505 Tunnel Ave) office.   FREE Parking. 

The Role of Logistics Analyst

Under general supervision, routes new services and re-route existing service to achieve route efficiencies and consolidate routes where possible. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Uses the Route Optimization software extension for ArcGIS to build, maintain, improve, and otherwise modify designated Commercial Driver routes for efficiency and profitability.
  • Evaluates requests from leadership for new or modified routes to determine scope, specifications, feasibility, timing, and cost considerations. Reports finding to management group. Works with user departments to develop project objectives and scope of work.
  • Manages and coordinates routing projects. Reports on quality and timely completion of tasks for projects assigned. 
  • Coordinates and prioritizes plans to acquire, exchange, share, and integrate digital data between Recology Operating Companies.
  • Prioritizes the development of component layers and structure of spatial data between Recology and city ordinances. 
  • Updates and maintains Graphical Information System (GIS) base maps for accuracy (e.g. reflects one-way streets, dead-ends, etc.).
  • Works with Corporate to determine enhancements to hardware, software, and procedures to ensure maximizing use of system and overall system integrity.
  • Provides logistics KPIs for performance management of Recology's fleet.
  • Tracks, monitors, and measures the benefits of the implemented reroutes through ongoing monitoring and communication with the management team.
  • Updates and maintains routing base maps for accuracy e.g. reflects one-way streets, dead ends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

  • 3-5 years of related experience, including two years of specific experience in Route Optimization software or similar logistics platforms and routing programs and reading, understanding, developing, and analyzing geographic information in a variety of data forms and projections. 
  • Experience working with data from public and private sources. 
  • Strong analytical skills and effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and computer cartographic design, layout, and production for various subjects. 
  • Experience using route Optimization software extension for ArcGIS. 
  • Technical knowledge of CRM database applications. 
  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. 
  • Valid driver's license required.
