The Route Logistics Manager is responsible for identifying route efficiencies and developing strategies to increase route productivity and profitability utilizing route optimization processes. The Route Logistics Manager also assists with budgeting, variance analysis, operation process development, sales drivers, and promotional activity.

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Communicate effectively and conduct meetings with all levels of employees from Senior Management to Front Line Employees
  • Analyze, define, and recommend strategies to increase route productivity for the individual operations
  • Introduce the Routing optimization concept and secure employee buy-in at assigned locations
  • Recognize current routing deficiencies and suggest improvements based different process-improvement options
  • Handle management of Route Auditors for assigned area, include managing people with remote work
  • Create a feedback-rich environment by coaching and emphasizing teamwork within the organization
  • Assist in developing solutions and tools to better serve our internal customers and external customers
  • Work with internal customers to assist in developing strategies to meet their key performance indicators
  • Work collaboratively with sales on targeted sales drives, residential promotions, and routing projects
  • Assist in annual budgeting process
  • Work with Finance and Operations teams on municipal Pro-formas and implementation of new contracts and acquisitions
  • Report monthly and quarterly to senior management on progress and success/failures of projects
  • Collaborate with Maintenance on fleet right-sizing
  • Perform other duties assigned as needed

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position will manage 1-5 employees
  • This position will not oversee and direct other managers

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

  • Process and results oriented with a commitment to organizational success
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to learn ArcMap GIS and RouteSmart software
  • Detail oriented with an ability to prioritize and focus on task at hand
  • Demonstrated problem solving, analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

  • 3 year waste/service industry experience a preferred
  • Experience in operations preferred
  • Project Management experience a preferred
  • Previous analytical experience a preferred

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

  • Frequently working outside in changing temperatures
  • Occasionally working in wet/humid conditions
  • Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
  • Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language
