Job Title: Blow Mold Machine Operator
Job Description

The Blow Mold Machine Operator sets up and operates blow-mold machines, grinders, trimmers, and conveyor systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role troubleshoots process issues, performs minor equipment maintenance, and follows Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production of plastic products.

Responsibilities

  • Operate blow-mold machines, grinders, trimmer machines, and conveyor systems to support continuous production.
  • Monitor machine performance, identify process issues, and troubleshoot basic mechanical and operational problems.
  • Perform minor maintenance and adjustments on equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production quality.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support injection and extrusion processes as needed within the plastics production environment.
  • Apply safe work practices at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
  • Contribute to problem solving in production and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership regarding equipment status, production issues, and safety concerns.
  • Manage time and tasks effectively to meet production schedules and shift requirements.
  • Work a rotating 3rd shift schedule and remain flexible to work assigned weekends as required.
Essential Skills
  • 1–3 years of machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience operating production machinery such as conveyors, grinders, and molding equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how machines operate and how to perform minor adjustments.
  • Troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving basic equipment and process issues.
  • Experience or familiarity with injection and extrusion processes.
  • Knowledge and practice of safe work procedures in a production environment.
  • Mechanical skills applicable to operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment.
  • Problem-solving ability in a production setting with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and report issues clearly.
  • Self-management skills, including reliability, time management, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Blow mold machine experience in a plastics manufacturing environment is a plus.

Work Environment

The position follows a 3rd shift rotating schedule (7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., 2-2-3 pattern), and candidates must be comfortable working two weekends per month, with the potential to move to one weekend per month as staffing increases. The work takes place around moving mechanical parts and production equipment, with a typically loud noise level. Plant temperatures can vary and may be hot or cold depending on the season. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas. The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and centered on consistent, high-quality plastics production using blow molding, injection molding, extrusion, grinders, trimmers, and conveyor systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
