Job description

General
This position is considered critical to the business at Axjo America as injection molding machines and robots are primary components driving production. When not maintained properly, it drives unnecessary down time for the Injection Molding Department as well as impacting customer delivery commitments. This position will be accountable and responsible to support the expectation of having IMMs and robots ready for production and running in alignment with OEE Goals. High levels of attention to detail, and strict adherence to processes and root cause analysis are requirements.
• Working with Shift Lead and Production Supervisor, monitors completion of the weekly scheduled PM programs for the IMMs and Molds. If needed, makes suggestions for improvement.
• Working with the Process Engineer and Automation Engineer, access new robotic programs for the Robots. These new programs could be for new machines, molds, or to improve efficiencies within the program itself.
• Performs emergency maintenance procedures to molds, robots, and auxiliary equipment.
• Continuously identifies and executes ways to improve production output. This may include employee, machine, methods, and materials improvements. The goal will be to improve the errors and preventing defects from occurring.
• Uses root cause analysis tools and documents the findings when assessing problems/issues (molds, machines, robots).
• Works directly with the Mold PM Technician, Process Technician I and Process Engineer to perform mold set ups, repairs, and other needed functions.
• Gives recommendations and works with process engineering to set up machines according to specified parameters and production goals, cycle time improvements.
• Attends and participates in various meetings with employees and leadership as requested. Working with Process Engineer communicates/implements information from meetings.
• Ability to be certified in operating equipment necessary to complete tasks in production. This may include a variety of forklifts, man lifts, and other equipment.
• Works with PM Maintenance Technician and PM Mold Technician to ensure spare parts are maintained and ordered.
• Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters.
• Adapt to job changes as needed, depending on workflow
Physical Demands/Requirements
• Must be able to stand, stoop, reach, grasp, sit or stand for long periods of time, and lift up to a maximum of 50 lbs. safely.
• Must be able to withstand excessive noise (with proper PPE) for extended periods of time; however, not on a regular basis.
• Must be willing and able to abide by all safety policies.
• Day or night shift; rotating 12-hour shifts, resulting in 36 hours one week, 48 hours the next week; every other weekend. Work is required on most holidays.
• Non-climate-controlled plant environment; standard hazards within a manufacturing plant where safety precautions and personal protective equipment must be maintained at all times.
Requirements
• 5 or more years of experience as a technician, with injection molding experience.
• Exposure to Scientific Molding technology a plus.
• Leadership, judgment and decision-making skills, time management, critical thinking.
• Working knowledge of robotics.
• Must have working knowledge of MS Office products including Outlook, Word & Excel. Preferred knowledge of Office 365 is best.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college level course work or associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong math skills, mechanical and pneumatic aptitude.
• Basic hydraulics and electrical troubleshooting.
